Apologies, in the time it took me to write that Helgis has changed his mind to being anti-x86 and pro-PPC.

we should just create a forum for "os4 on x86 hw advocacy", and just not display those messages on the main page.

Hi Wizzard_o,
Eeeeehehehe!!!
Beat me to it.
HHGttG Rulez!
Hi Helgis,
I have started this x86 thread a couple times too, and have decided it would be a waste of time for them to port there, as PPC is still advancing and the endian issue is big, and there's just too many MBs to support, and even if a unique MB was made, well, that one's not as easy to dismiss, but it's just not necessary to go x86 anymore, I feel.
Everything's gone way, way too far in the direction they've chosen a long time ago. Hyperion has coded over 40,000 PPC assembler lines into AOS4.0, that's a lot to redo for x86.
I'm confident in that PPC RISC is the better choice right now.
AOS4.0 will not fail. I can see it in the amount of SW that's been released and the further effort put forward by others for this "dead" platform.

No, not a new enemy, I have no enemies in the Amiga community.
Just think if you're going to start a debate/campaign you should perhaps have a position in the first place which isn't going to change within half an hour.
Apologies if my tone came across as hostile, it is just weary of intent without direction.
Wahhhhh! I want OS4! Where's the frikkin' hardware???
Sorry, emotional outburst. _________________ Troll - n., A disenfranchised former potential customer who remains interested enough to stay informed and express critical opinions. opp., the vast majority who voted silently with their feet. |

IIRC it has been hinted a long time ago that AOS5.x might be on x86... NOT AOS4.x. Also some people claims that AROS is more advanced than AOS4, that AROS will ALWAYS be ahead of AOS4, and that AROS run on x86... So AROS could well be the future for those who wants AOS on x86... BTW: These are the same people saying that AOS4 is dead...

We had already a thread like that IIRC... It was called "The Whinning Thread"...

Names please... AROS has it's plus points above AmigaOS 4, and namely of being in x86, 68k and ppc land... and it is open source, which most think that might give it the edge...

Well, the x86-topic will always pop up again when the future of AOS (beyond 4.0) is being discussed. You can't separate it from other discussions that involve speculation and opinions on the future direction._________________ This signature is in the middle of a much needed facelift! |

I just don't understand why that people who doesn't have the vested interest in it are compelled to enter on those. It reminds me an alchoolic which can't get away from the bar and then blames the bartender for serving him a drink..._________________ Indigo 3D Lounge, my second home. At least he knows how to have a polite discussion without personally attacking the other party.
As for the "know-it-all" type of person, I'm sure you have lots of experience on that front.
Call me when AmigaOS4 will be a success, then you might have the right to be so condescending with people who have a different opinion than yours. _________________ “It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.” ~~ Henry Ford |

Okay, very easy. RISC is short for "Reduced Instruction Set Component"...
