@Fransexy

Shouldn't we wait until the official dates are over before discussing
missed dates? I'm not very optimistic too but we should at least be fair...
At the amiga.com website are three press releases.

"New hardware designs" says Quote:

Manufacturing and final price information along with product launch schedules will be following in the next week.

"Entry level design details" says Quote:

Entry level product ready for Customers Summer 2007

Quote:
Manufacturing partner and final ship schedule will be following soon.

"Power design details" says Quote:

Power level product ready for Customers Winter 2007

So "Summer 2007" is the first date, and on my calendar this is not over yet...

Just knitpicking! Consumer confidence is everything as shown in the UK bank/mortgage sector with Northern Rock. We don't believe anything a professional vapourware developer like ACK says

@TetiSoft

You know what I head ICE on my car this morning, summer is over her.

”following in the next week”
This one is a tiny bit more fuzzy; I’m shore you can stretch this one out

I have no confidence when it comes to ACK…
My only hope is Sam440 from ACube-Systems,

I only buy real things not air, it does not matter what you say you’re going to produce if you don’t do it, maybe it does if you sell stock on expectations (dot com bobble Amiga Inc), they can’t do too many Kent deals before some start smelling a rat, it getting noticed inside this community and outside, legal disputes between Amiga Inc and Hyperion does not matter, because when they are done, none one will expect Amiga Inc ever succeed if they win.

OK, where can I buy a Peg2?

@Foody

As long as my A1 continues to boot there is no way I'm going to forget Amiga. It just keeps getting better every day.

Wrong. SAM will be available a few days from now (see here). Unfortunately, probably not with Amiga OS 4.0, but with Linux.

Sorry for the off-topic, but I have a question. SAM440EP , consumer version, will also have the integrated FPGA?

@madmalkav

yes, it has a Lattice XP LFXP6C FPGA.

I have mixed feelings about the FPGA on the consumer motherboard. It surely can be really useful if used correctly, but I'm afraid of some software requring the FPGA and therefore making old users unable to run it.

I suppose the reason is just is cheaper to produce X units with FPGA than X/2 units for industrial customers and X/2 without FPGA for the consumer units.

@madmalkav
I think the FPGA can (and [sh/w]ould) be used to make the SAM more compatible with classic hardware, not vice versa.

@madmalkav

I think it’s possible to implement CIA, Paula in side the FPGA.

Yeah, there is a lot of useful things to do with the FPGA, but will that separe userbase in nonFPGA and FPGA owners? Will a PCI card for the A1 with the FPGA appear to avoid this gap?

Another question, if two different programs wants to use FPGA in a diffrent manner, how the priority will be stablished? Or FPGA will always work in "Old Hardware" emulation mode or for OS usage?

We already had below freezing at nights and snow in some areas of this country, so summer is over for me. I thought september was known as a fall month in most of the northern hemisphere anyways..

Whit this you can lock the memory region, so if an other program tries to lock it fails, this way you can keep the FPGA for your self.

For FPGA you probably have kernel module you insert in too your kickstart drawer or, as program running from wbstatup / user-startup, when the program exits you get your FPGA back, to do what you like whit it, you probably need move it in to the correct memory region using the MMU, or the memory exception handler can possibly take care of it (memory violation exception).

@NutsAboutAmiga

So, only one program can use the FPGA at once, and the first one to ask for it is the first one to use it. Ok, thanks for the info ;)

Is more correct to say one program can flash the FPGA at once, and probably should protect the FPGA from being misused configured by some other program, how knows random result that might bring.
