@Mechanic

Holy crap !! That worked ! Thanks !

Posting this from my SAM

Still Uboot doesnt keep my saved settings for some reason....
I have to maualy selct my HD to boot, otherwise it cant find the SLB, because it looks at the wrong controller.

Now, tweaking and installing third party tools and programs......

Cpying my XE HD's to my SAM HD through a IDE to USB adapter, works nice and fast !

Not sure why. Try this, select the save settings from the UBoot
menu, then when it reboots again stop the process and this time
power off.

If that fails then the settings can be done from a shell in AOS.

(dinner time!)

@Metalheart

You may have to set the sii3512ide_conf Uboot variable if you have a sii3512 card
or sii3114ide_conf is you have a sii3114 card

Can't we go to Sys:Prefs/Uboot and set the IDE card we're using? UBoot doesn't configure itself; not that smart...

@Snuffy

No.
Its A Sam not an A1.
Uboot setting are either done in the Uboot menu or from cli using the nvsetvar command if you know what your doing.

What about those flickering coloured squares when powering up ?
Also when restting sometimes half the screen turn flashing yellow.

The GFX board is faulty ? I'll try the X1950 tonight.

Thanks

ps, got a grim reaper when copying my old data to the new disk using Workbench drag n drop.

Otherwise its been running al night copying stuff...

Any of you have aditional cooling for the CPU on SAM 460 ?

pps, why me again with those problems..... sigh....

I don't have a 460, but some others have gone through similar setup
difficulties. If you could paste your UBoot settings here it will
help a lot in working things out.

One way to do this is;
Open a shell
type in, nvgetvar > RAM:uboot.txt
open uboot.txt with NotePad, Mark All and Copy
Then use Ctrl + v to paste it in the browser when you reply. ( I don't
think pasting works with Timberwolf yet ???)

Be sure to say which video and SATA card your using.

Ctrl-V ? Pasting isn't going to work in any amiga broswer with that key combo :-0

@Metalheart

What is your uboot version of Sam460. I had a similar problem my RadeonHD 4650 gfx card but it was gone after a uboot update ?

Are you using on board SATA or a PCI SATA Card ?
What are your UBoot Sata settings ?

I read that when there's 2 Gb of RAM installed the SWAP will not work.

Its not needed, it won`t be used, so no need to make a SWAP partition.

Until RadeonHD driver is 100% 3D, keep the X1950 in, that is the fastest card in 2D

The boot order menu in a SAM uboot has the option to save the settings.
other settings need the saveenv

I did not do a 'saveenv' I thought that the save settings from ubooy menu should do the trick. I'll try that

ver=U-Boot 2010.06.03 (Jan 24 2011 - 12:07:20)

I have a SIL3114ide card

I use a SIL SATA card, wher do I find its settings ?

Jees, I feel such a newby....

Oh, selcting the card and saveing it from the menu is not enough ? I'll also try that.

The option has not been saved in your uboot settings as posted .
Think that you should have a boot2= variable
