I´m was amazed when I read this on the other side.

Quote:
I am currently negotiating with Hyperion to provide a new amiga motherboard or using an existing or brand new design.
I want Hyperion to eliminate the need for a ROM, or I'll have to add a new one to the board design. This will slow things down. However, flash ROM won't be much of a problem.
I want to use a dual core set-up.

Hyperion was foolish to make it one board specific.
They now say on their website that they will work with you to port the OS to a new chip if necessary. I was thinking of AMD. The chips are well supported and have a future.

I made some googleing and it seems that they don´t have a web page but all links say the same about this company, it seems they make some kind of hardware and are computer technicians, anyway you have a link here whith their address.

@Raziel

Dont care who it is (but I did suspect Rose)

certainly sounds interesting...

But sounding interesting and pulling it off are two different things entirely !

Unless I am mistaken, I don't think this was up to Hyperion. AInc. and Eyetech?

@Raziel

That's not Rose - she lives in France, that address is in the US, and her company name is Amont Informatique.

(plus Rose is her real name AFAIK)

We don't need new hardware right now, we just need PowerVixxen and Amy'05 become available.

Starting development of new hardware would be stupid adapting OS4 to existing hardware would IMHO be wise though.

I'd rather see someone help get those projects finished and become available and then get Hyperion concentrate on an X86 port so we could use (a limited list) of of the shelf boards that would be dongled by an USB key of some sort.. Hell, even with thousands of pirate copies of an X86 OS4 it would easily outsell any PPC version (unless we get an PS3 version ofcourse).

Still believe this is a hoax though!

Question for Hyperion:
Have you had contact with this company and have you changed your stance on an X86 version.

My apologies to emavys. I neglected to delete the "emavys wrote" text, I know that it wasn't emavys's quote. A poor oversight, and thank you Paul, for highlighting my error.

Well, it´s interesting to see that there is someone thinking about the Amiga, these can only be good things, only hope that these things materialize and come to market.

Anyone at Hyperion can say something about this?

@emavys

I wouldnt bother even speculating as to what someone is going to do with a dual-core AMD chip with OS4 on it...

In fact the opening "I am currently negotiating..." sounds like "I sent them an email..." to me.

To me OS4 on x86 sounds about as interesting as watching paint dry... Really, half the fun of coding for OS4 is doing so for a (IMHO) somewhat sensible CPU. If OS4 should be made to run on any CPU besides PPC, I would much rather see a port for the ARM or MIPS...

Unless you're writing in assembly, how are you programming for the CPU anyway?

I think AW should have a tag that can be inserted into posts that automatically generates an ignorant x86-bashing comment. It would save some people quite a bit of typing...
