Everything is in the question

AF3 is slimer, to take advantage of the slim back connectors of Samantha.

It is also a way for me to see if you're still interested

@Hombre

Oh no ! The URL tag doesn't work

Here are the links :

AF2 - for MiniITX boards
AF3 - specifically for Sam

The AF2 is nicer, but the AF3 might be easier on the wrists....

@Hombre

I voted AF3 on the basis that, although AF2 is closer to previous formats, AF3 is more of an evolution. The curves fit in with current trends in consumer HW (see current xbox as one example) but the all-in-one form and the long vents that run down the legth of the case still give a slight echo of the past.

Were it to run a decent game and come with a wireless controller and mouse, I'd be right in there.

Points to consider -

A seperate internal chamber for the PSU (I'm assuming one could be accomodated) to prevent it's heat output from affecting CPU temps.

Not sure if it was your intention in the vid but I like the idea of changeable covers - customisation is a popular thing with the current generation.

If, after the basic components were accomodate, there was enough space, I think it'd be cool to have a little bay for the mouse to slot away into - handy for a machine that may sit out in the living room and need to be tidied away from time to time. The more contained the whole thing is, the more appealing to mums and dads.

Nice cases, but they need the typical Amiga logo on the top right side.

It was my intention to design a more up-to-date A1200 style case...

It was only a color test.

I agree, but there's no space left in there for a mouse.

That's really a commercial (and licence) detail.

You succeeded in this with both designs, I think - nice work

Fair enough - but, in a more general sense, that kind of inegration & attention to detail tends to be what posesses, for example, Mac users to pay over the odds for their machines. Little things that make you smile or feel that the designer has really thought about the user will give a feeling of quality which can go a long way to counteract the obvious power discrepancy which will put some people off.

Keep it up!

@Hombre

They both *LOOK* very, very nice! I have not voted, though, as I have to make a remark regarding the ergonomical aspects: a keyboard should be flat, as flat as possible. This is to prevent RSI. When a keyboard is flat on the table top your wrists are not angled and therefore blood can freely flow and muscles are not unneccessarily tensed for long periods of time. However, when looking at these beautifully sculpted designs of potential Amiga cases, one can see that, in order to do keyboard work, one has to raise the hand and, due to lack of a proper place to rest the wrist upon, one lets his/her hands rest on the table top thereby angling the wrists upwards and introducing a sure possibillity for RSI.

So, however nice, they are a no-go for me.

OldFart

P.S.; ensure that the raisers at the rear side of your current key board are nicely tucked inwards or, even better, are entirely removed!

@OldFart

Have a look at the "A" KB from A4Tech...
(I'm myself interested in the KAS-15... I just can't find any resellers !)

Both designs look great

Could USB card reader slots be put on top ? Or underneath a flap ?

I didn't vote as I like the original design the best, I guess it was the one by Marko HIRV, or whichever was the one originally shown.
(the one some AW user - I can't find now - uses it for his avatar)

To me neither one has enough "style/character", too anonymous, kind of like most current cars... Just a matter of taste, I know, but it doesn't look futuristic enough for mine.

I noticed the lower profile keyboard, that is good, especially if it uses metal "scissor" springs and has EL backlit keys
