Hello,
Since this is my first post i don't know if you have allready discuss the subject but I have found by luck a link on the internet which leads into a chinese company that builds systems compatible (?) with OS4 (in terms of hardware).
Anyway, to my amazement i saw that a product of their own which they call "Home Media Center" is the same that was showen in Pianeta Amiga from Guru Meditation and Troika, and we call it "Panda".
Here's the link http://www.udtech.com.cn/english/product/product_show.asp?id=198&subject=Home%20Media%20Center%20Product%20Solution
And finally i want to ask you, if i buy that particular equipment will it be possible to have OS4 running upon it?

Sorry for my bad English.
Ciao.

@Cool_amigaN

to AmigaWorld

Troika want to make an OS4 compatible board (panda) based on that board but they do not have a license jet and OS4 has not been ported to it

@Cool_amigaN

It wont be as simple as that. I asked Troika about this, and was advised that the board is going to be slightly modified - the UD tech board that they currently have is a mature product, but has lots of things on it that most people wont use. So some slight modifications are to be made to lower the cost - for example, the board contains circuitary for debug purposes - useful to developers, but not the general user.

@Cool_amigaN

Support our manufacturers by buying from them.
Thanks.

Our manufacturers? You've got manufacturers? And who are "you", anyway? ;)

I'll "support" (exchange money for goods) the manufacturer that offers the best product at the best price, thanks. Given the hardware licensing scheme that has reduced AmigaOS into a means of subsidy for irrelevant vendors of unattractive hardware, it's unlikely that AmigaOS will ever ship for any product that remotely fulfills those basic requirements.

@Seehund

Could you compress your avatar a bit?

The limit is at 5KB and as far as I can see, your avatar takes up 5.99KB.

Aargh, please nooo! I've been struggling like crazy to get it down from 16 kB to 6132 byte, since the limit is set to 6kB.

Edit: I see now that the site terms differ from what the avatar submission form says. Can you buy me a measly 1012 little bytes' leeway until the inconsistent rules are set in either direction? (In case anyone's still on a 56k modem, that's 0.018 seconds of extra wait until they can enjoy my posts...;))

I vote to adjust the terms to the 6kB limitation that's always been there, BTW. :)

The forum prefs don't overrun the ToS I'm afraid.

Crud, I gave it another go but I'm still blatantly violating the ToS by 145 bytes. Getting there though...

If by "enjoy" you mean "rather have my eyes removed by burrowing insects," your absolutely right.
