Cool!

A completely assembled motherboard would be nice...let's see what happens next year!

When the myth becomes... mini!
Bassano del Grappa - Italy - 23 december 2007: ACube Systems is pleased to announce the availability of MiniMig motherboards based on the famous Dennis van Weeren project (version 1.1).

The bare fully assembled motherboard will be available mid-january directly from ACube Systems and later from other resellers too. The prices and bundles will be announced in the upcoming days.

The MiniMig features an FPGA re-implementation of the A500 chipset with a real 68000 processor onboard and connectors for real Amiga compatible joystick and mouse as well as a PS2 one and a VGA monitor that accepts 31Khz output.

To run the MiniMig it is necessary to copy on a SD memory card a 1.3 ROM that can be legally obtained from Cloanto's Amiga Forever package (www.amigaforever.com).

To order your MiniMig contact ACube Systems at info@acube-systems.com.

Let the myth live again!

I'm confused. A [b]bare, fully assembled[b] motherboard? Do you mean "Bare" as in "nothing on it, just the PCB" or do you mean "bare, fully assembled" as in "All components mounted, but required the software and kickstart on a SD Card"?

I hope you mean fully assembled with all of the components!!!

@Darrin

I think they mean a completely assembled motherboard, so that you don't have to source, buy and solder the stuff yourself, but bare because that's all you get.

You will need a case, psu, mouse, joystick, sd card and ROM1.3

Bare fully assembled , is most likely without a case(box). That's how I read it.

Merry Christmas to you all

EDIT: Typo

@All,

Thanks all, this is extremely good news.

Is this project being done by yourselves or in partnership with Crom?

@Acube

Yeh very awesome, but so early, it's not even 2008 yet!
Excellent our 2008 predictions are coming true, lets support ACube 10,000%+
That mean AA & AAA chip set work be accelerated.

Yeh and for me a MinMig with a PPC expansion that can run OS4 on it will be on my
BUY NOW LIST. I do plan to buy a Mini Mig as its is now in a month I would say.

Get me the price sunny?

Honestly, I couldn't believe one or two years ago that my next Amiga would be... the clone of my first one and not an OS4 machine but I will definately buy that!

I'm not sure why people want AAA support. AA suport makes sense because of the software legacy, but AAA has none and is eclipsed by hardware which is old by todays standards.

@Rob

If AAA includes Chunky graphics support, then it makes sence for people making demos.

@RWO

Any old graphics card for £20 has `chunky support` and is impossibly fast by 1993 standards.

I saw this popped up at opencores aswell

http://www.opencores.org/projects.cgi/web/tg68/overview

Wouldn't it be better to include this in the design before starting production? I can't imagine the 68k's are easy to come by.. (Also, with the cpu in the fpga I guess one could increase the clock frequency quite easily..)

@steego

AAA Chip set re-development could be good from a Licensing Perspective.

AAA would be much needed upgrade / speed boost for legacy applications with legacy graphics

AAA re-development in FPGA would be a learning path, that could see the come back of custom hardware/chip sets from the Amiga community.

I think AAA chip set needs to be re-visited ASAP, learning and implementing it could un-earth some design decisions that the world never got to see or learn from.

Its like the ancient tomb of Kin Tut in Egypt, until it was found, many years later and many $$$ over budget, no-body could have guessed it's sheer value.

This is awesome news, congrats number6. DiscreetFX would be glad to sell these for you in the USA if you like. We would include a original Amiga Forever with each sale.

I suggest you make your offer to Max Tretene, as I do not work for ACube:

Perhaps the reseller address.

hello,

thanks for the minimig.

for sure, the dream is a minimig 2.0 with better cpu or PPC and with AGA.

Maybe cube must pay the author of the minimig for an update (or an amiga bounty) or both ????.
