| So what is the official designation for 'The Red One' anyway?
The manual has "SAM440ep" on the cover and "Sam440ep" on the inside pages.
I recently spotted m3x stating the official label as "Sam440ep."
I've been using "SAM440ep" most of the time myself.

| And continuing in the nitpicking geek tradition...
What's with the OS product name?
Is it: - Amiga OS 4.1 - AmigaOS 4.1 - Amiga OS4.1 - AmigaOS4.1
Every piece of marketing material and web page seems to have a slightly different idea. Even the font and attributes can vary. I presume this is from the lack of any real marketing department setting and enforcing standards.
My suggestion is as the first above "Amiga OS 4.1". Just like "Mac OS X".

That's the company and product names referred to as they appear on the website and seem to match what Max used as well.

Although headlines often omit a space, Hyperion refers to it on their site as: Quote:

The official designations for the boards are:
- Sam440ep (mini-itx version) - Sam440ep-flex (aka Sam 1.5)

There is a typo on the front page on the latest available user manual (it was correct on previous versions) Anyway we're reviewing the manual and adding more information (under user suggestions too)_________________ Massimiliano Tretene, ACube Systems, Soft3 |

Sorry if I'm slightly off-topic. Any change to ETA on Sam 1.5? Thanks. |

Around December (2008) Unfortunally a definitive date of availability isn't set as of today since we needed to slight modify the board. The USB chip used before (ISP1561) is now obsolete, and we replaced it with a NEC chip._________________ Massimiliano Tretene, ACube Systems, Soft3 |

Maybe a redundant question: is OS4.1 available for this board too?

I'm not quite sure this sentence will be as laughable in every country as it is in France, mate. _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |

| @OldFart I asked the boss and yes AmigaOS 4.1 (my preferred spelling) will be available for the Sam440ep-flex.
I was told the flex was shown at Pianeta with AmigaOS 4.1 running on it.
Finally, if you check the Hyperion announcement it says "...SAM440 range of motherboards." _________________ ExecSG Team Lead |

I am happy with my AOne and don't plan on a Sam any time soon so you can ignore my question if you like,
But,
What is the difference between the two versions? I have found the 440ep on the ACube website, but no reference to the -flex or the 1.5.

My 2 E cents...
-Amiga OS implies an OperatingSystem for an Amiga computer. (like a 'Ford Screenwiperblade')
-AmigaOS implies the exact name for an OS.
Since not every computer capable of running 'AmigaOS 4.1' is called an 'Amiga' I think the latter is the best.
If the SAM was also called for example 'AmigaSAM' or something similar one could call it 'Amiga OS' An OS for an Amiga.
Any takers ??
Cheers
Martin
