| Has any person been able to connect to the front USB connector on their computer case from their Sam440ep motherboard? If you have, can you explain in detail how you did this. What colored wires went to what pins. The front usb connectors on my computer case have a 10 pin connector with one solid (no place for a wire) and one blank without a wire and the other 8 holes with different colored wires-two in each hole. I don't know if I explained this right, but hope you get the idea.
Also has anyone connected a Seagate FreeAgent 500g/b usb hard drive to their Sam440ep.Will it be recognized and usable?
Thanks. Flipper |

First of all you must search and find your case manual and look at the Sam's manual too. Then match what you see in both manuals about "+" and "-" and you are ready. _________________

Yes you should be very careful when you do this, connecting +/- in the wrong way will damage your board. Good luck _________________ Amiga: A computer for the creative mind.

| @flipper Yes, I have USB working on J19a & J19b. I might be able to take a picture if you really need it.
But J17 does not work at all . I assume that OS4 does not support this yet? Or is my board duff? Last edited by ChrisH on 11-Nov-2008 at 12:47 PM.

Doesn't one of the connections support USB2 only? That would explain why it doesn't work. _________________ If your nose runs and your feet smell, you're upside down. |

I use J19A and J19B for my Front USB too, and i guess that J17 was for USB2 only
I asked here about the DVD sound problem before but got no answers, anyone tested their DVD player, do you have sound when playing DVD's? Last edited by Ande on 11-Nov-2008 at 08:15 PM.

I have a plug with on pin blocked out. The plug is two pins bigger than J19 Am I right in thinking that the overhang should be at the top end with of J19 with the blocked out pin being part of the overhang? _________________ If your nose runs and your feet smell, you're upside down. |

That sounds a little bit tricky. In some cases you are not able to connect the front usb directly, in these cases you just have to modify the front usb connector so that it will fit to the motherboard. If this is the case then the safest way is to go to a local PC repairshop and ask for advice. _________________ Amiga: A computer for the creative mind.

| @TiredofLife I have the same type of connector.Right pin #1 is red,Left pin #2 is orange,Right pin #3 is dark blue,Left pin #4 is yellow,Right pin #5 is purple,Left pin #6 is green,Right pin #7 is brown,Left pin #8 is black and the and the Right far back is a no wire hole and the Left far back is a solid blank-these two back slots hang over the (back-top)end of J19 a & J19b. That is the way I see it according to the Sam440ep user guide and the computer case guide. The pic Ande sent me has the 8 slot connector and different color wires. I don't know if the VCC1&2 have standard color coded wires.
EDIT 11:32 Alaska standard time. My front usb ports are working per my description as above-that is if you can decipher what I wrote. Hope this helps the new Sam440ep proud owners. Last edited by flipper on 13-Nov-2008 at 08:33 AM.
