I wonder how that affects the backplate? Will they create one for Sams with this expansions and ones without?

But where are the covers (backplates) for the back-ports?

Looks very cool.
I would defiantly be interested in one as long as it has a header to connect USB so I don't have to louse the front USB ports on my case. _________________ Sam440ep 667mhz, 512MB, 120GB 2.5" HD, OS4.1FE WinUae 3.0.0, OS 3.9, BB3, Catweasel MkIV Amiga 1200, Blizzard 040/40 (BlizzardPPC 060/200 with SCSI removed at present), mediatorSX pci, Voodoo3, PCI network card os 3.9BB2 4MB Minimig with ARM addon boar |

| Hi Everyone!
I cannot wait to buy one of these sam boards. With these expansion ports it has, reminds me of the good old days with all the strange expansion stuff for the A500/A600/A1200. Hopefully people will start making more expansion cards for this thing as we move along.

| Yes.. sounds good,
anyway, seems that the amiga market moves forward, and that companies more or less stick to their confirmed and "not really confirmed" promises (even if you have to wait longer as it should be..). So ACube: good job, but not perfect.... but fair enough we also have to have a look how much the efford costs to make it from good to perfect.
IO Expansion board: It should really be for free... unless there are no other solutions:
1. most cases already have two front USB Ports/having more than 2 USB Ports external is standard anyway, even on Laptops. So 2 normal cables should already be included to get the internal USB Ports running (either by ACube or the Dealers) Some dealers already do that, if you buy a complete system. -> No need for an expansion board.
2. most cases already have LINE IN and MIC IN, so no need for an expansion port either So just give us a cable which fits - I would even pay a couple of Euros for that.
3. VGA Port We donnot need that, DVI to VGA Adaptor is already included, but, yes, it does not always produce a clear picture, so get this one straight first... this should be for free. If you swap DVI=VGA Adaptor against a internal VGA connector for free, I can live with that, even though it is only a workaround.
To be honest only 3 more Audiojacks and the S/P-DIF are new, and non standard, worth paying for. So seen from my point of view, there are two solutions:
ACube/Dealers should provide cabling for + USB + basic Audiosupport Line IN and Mic IN + a solution to the DVI to VGA Problem = max 10¤
ACube/Dealers should put up a trade in program for DVI to VGA Adaptor. solve the DVI to VGA problem buy utilizing internal VGA Port. I give mine DVI to VGA Adaptor and get the I/O Expansion board for a reduced price, even though I donnot need S/P-DIF and five Audio jacks...
So overall, think about a good win/win deal for customers affected by the DVI-VGA problem. Just to make this one clear, I still love my SAM and I still think ACube does a good job in small market !!!! And it is way better than what we have seen before on the Amiga Market.
cheers Gero

| Maybe ACube should have a slogan contest - I'll go first: "All the functionality your motherboard should come with already, but later and you pay extra!"
Nah, too wordy.
