[Poll] Genesi/DCE == Manufacturer of the X1000?

Just wondering if all the secrecy around the X1000 manufacturer is because it is being made by DCE and possibly with the help of Genesi, so they think we will revolt when we find out.

What are your thoughts?

@AmigaHeretic

I think you're wrong.

Still I hope Genesi do well with the Efika MX Smartbook, it's a shame they've apparently left the PPC market.

um, why? i dont believe it is, but if it is DCE they have a good track record. Genesi have nothing to do with manufacturing hardware, i dont know why you bring them up.

@AmigaHeretic

I think it's time for your medicine....

But if you want a more sensible answer, IIRC it was stated that the manufacturer was UK based, and neither of Genesi/DCE fit that criteria.

Maybe they just have no one who could write the answer to a proper Web Site.

Do you think the 'true Amiga fans' would revolt if they are told the board is made by someone who really could design hardware ?

They just have to wait until someone of the managers finds the time for a proper official statement. You know a lot of work is done by hobbyists

Just thinking of possibilities. Genesi/DCE have been around a while and have a good track record of delivering hardware as promised.

Though as they appear to be moving towards ARM the chances are probably very slim.

Just thought it would interesting if we came full circle so to speak

No, it isn't bplan who design and it will probably not dce who produce the X1000.

I have not failed. I've just found another company that is not making the X1000.

@broadblues

Well if you look at it from the point of view of which companies have produced desktop PPC systems in the past the idea dose not seem that crazy, other than Apple I cant think and IBM I cant think of anyone else at the moment.

I do agree that due to past Amiga History its about as likely to be Apple as DCE... or in other words no chance

ACK Controls or Troika maybe?
Wouldnt be a popular choice as they both have failed to produce in the past.
Might surprise us all. (I doubt it)

It will be made by DCE so that when you return it for repair you have to wait YEARS to get it back

@thread
I remain convinced that the X1000 mobo designer is Varisys. They could well end up manufacturing them in China.
Quote from their news item:
Quote:
After two and half years of working together Varisys and XMOS have complete their 16th development/evaluation board.

Varisys have extensive experience designing PPC boards, are an XMOS partner and have been developing boards with them for a couple of years.

@BigBentheAussie

Varisys also do mechanical design so the motherboard and chassis could be done under the same roof.

Genesi? LOL !

Varisys currently seems to be the most propable designer&manufacturer. http://www.varisys.co.uk/
IMHO, also this has interest in both transputers and PA6T: http://www.transtech.co.uk/about.html

Xes is out of the question now. (TrevorD said it's not Xes)
