| Hi. I just saw the news about this keyboard+mouse combination. Im tired of changing batteries (charging) on my MX700 mouse (keyboard life is totally ok). So i thought maybe to buy the MK710.
The cons are no ps2 connection. Which would mean delay time while UBOOT is booting as it would try to find keyboard in ps2. Too bad UBOOT on amigaone isnt updated to be able to set it to not wait for ps2. Another con are that if a red/yellow guru comes on the screen you cant cancel it with the mousebutton but have to wait. This isnt a problem when using ps2.
The plus is long batterytime. This is a BIG plus :)
So anyone knows if this MK710 mouse+keyboard would work on Amigaone running os4 ? |

It's bound to depend on custom software that only runs on a PC.
Unless you have some inside information on the custom software (including driver sources, etc), you can forget it, I think.

| Personally, I can't see why it wouldn't work. "Unifying receiver" sounds like marketing speak. The USB interface for keyboards and mice are pretty standard, and my Logitech keyboard/mouse combo works fine here, although before 4.1.1 I think only one of them worked (keyboard or mouse, can't remember which).
Nevertheless I have faith the USB stack in 4.1.1 will able to run it.

As I understand it during a guru mediation the multitasking is turned off, the USB stack needs multitasking to work, while ps2 drivers is interrupt driven and does not, I really hope gurus can be removed some time in the future.
On red guru its better if wrote guru crash information to the debug buffer, rebooted whit soft reboot and recovered the crash information on startup whit normal ASL dialog box whit message like: “Computer rebooted because of none recoverable crash, guru mediation error code 0x0000000”.
On the yellow guru there is nothing to be done, because the OS might recover from crash, while red gurus cannot be recovered, so it’s only logical to just reboot it.

I've tried a couple of USB keyboards, a keyboard from a powermac (USB) and also a numeric pad for laptops and they all worked. I've also tried a wireless keyboard from logitech (don't remember what modell though). It seems like pretty much anything that I've plugged in has worked when it comes to mice and keyboard . Right now I got a ps2 keyboard connected to get rid of the delay and for resets but I'm using the keyboard from the powermac for everything else.
They mouse I got is wireless and USB.
What I'm trying to say is that I haven't found a keyboard that didn't work yet and I would also suggest that you keep the ps2 keyboard plugged in (put it agains the wall if you don't want to see it :P ) Last edited by hotrod on 30-Mar-2010 at 08:28 AM.

Try a keyboard from Cherry if you like them. http://www.cherry.de/english/cid_index.htm
the mause battery lasts very long here, about 4-5 weeks, and you can use the mouse while recharging. the batteries are "green".

What's strange is that if the yellow/amber guru appears, it will display in a requester instead of at the upper screen if/while the wb screen is shifted from it's standard position (i.e. dragged down a bit). The USB mouse can then be used to click the requester away.
