@fairlanefastback

The etching of the boingball on this case doesn't seem to have the weird x-es. Other than that: Nice 'wild-spot'.

@Amiga_3k

I cant decide if he is saying that this is one of the new AmigaKit X1000 cases, or the one that existed for a while in some fan pictures

Here ... ( same colour walls anyway )

Certainly the Xs in the etching don't appear to be an issue.

@fairlanefastback

Are we sure that's 'just' a betatester? How come he's got the official case standing around?

Just wondering.

@cgutjahr

i think he _is_ a betatester, why should he pretend to be if he was not? the case doesnt look for me like genuine x1k prototype case, rather like fan replica made using some adhesive foil or something. the details of design were known long enough to prepare something like that if you were dedicated enough.

@fairlanefastback

Oh, finally no more FUD and no more trolling about hoaxed beta testers etc.

Just a bit of patience was needed, and its good not to see only the board
but also AmigaOS 4 (4.1.3? 4.2 Beta?) CD

Now, autumn shall pass and we hope to see it finalized in winter (AmigaOS 4.2 for X1000) if that is not way too much, as well as AmigaOS 4.2 for all PPC systems would be a joy and celebration

I'm not saying he's pretending anything, but I know of at least one person who already got their machine days ago - apparently because they were qualified to have a first look and give some feedback.

That's why I asked if this guy is 'just' a betatester.

Hm, could be.

@all
His case is NOT representative of official X1000 cases. I won't say more, just in case I am breaking any confidence (although I doubt it), but it should be very easy for someone to just ask him & report what he says here.

@ChrisH

i cant ask him because i do not participate on exec.pl, ive noticed this link on ppa.pl. besides i think he is not allowed to talk too much, just show off the fotos of his gear.

edit: besides i believe youi right, and also dont think that the case is such important an issue.

@ChrisH

For the first link in thread.

He explains later in the forum he was able to order everything
from AmigaKit as a complete DIY system.

The graphic on the case may/may not be what will be on the production
systems(?). Which would make his special in the future.

Perhaps AKit got artistic with their hot glue gun.

@ChrisH

On closer inspection of this pic

It seems that the case front may actually be a stuck on image. Likely he bought himself a Fractal case and did the mod himself.

@all

maybe the case was a "Design Studie" (as we germans say) = "Design study"/"Design prototype" made for A-EON once a while.

Hi, I'm very excited about this new Amiga! The first since the 1990s. I found out about it recently from a friend who knew I was Amiga fan back in the day and have been trying to catch up. I have missed the fun of the Amiga and its custom hardware.

I wonder though if anyone will be porting OS3.1 or 3.5 to this new Amiga?

Thanks!

This will run AmigaOS 4.2 when its ready, AmigaOS 1.0 to 3.9 will require EUAE.

AmigaOS 4.X is for PowerPC/Power CPU architecture
AmigaOS 3.X for MX68000 CPU's architecture needs emulator.

AmigaOS 4.X has a integrated emulator for MC680x0 CPU's so system friendly software runs.
Many old games and demos are not rally system friendly, so you need EUAE.

If you are just interested in old games just buy MiniMig.
If you are mostly interested in OS and applications then X1000 is your choice.
If you are hardware geek and like all games and programs to run, don't mind low clcok speed then NatAMI is your choice.

If you think X1000 is too expensive buy a new Sam460 or used Sam460/Sam440/AmigaOne-XE computers see Classified ads
