Thank you to you and all the others Linux gurus of Hyperion forum.
This initrd, unlike previous ones, detect well my disks.
Installing 15.04...just after have completed installation of 14.04, busy LinuxPPC week-end !
edit : didn't you miss to add "setenv bootargs "root=/dev/ramdisk"" in your procedure above ? Last edited by zzd10h on 08-Feb-2015 at 08:01 PM.

Did you need to add "root=/dev/ramdisk" to your bootargs? _________________ www.amigalinux.org |

During the installation of 14.10, I forgot to add this line and it booted on my previous installed Linux system "root=/dev/sda4" instead of the initrd.
Nevertheless, 15.04 installed and working !
Thank you for the advices on Hyperion forum _________________ http://apps.amistore.net/zTools |

| Hi All,
I tested QEMU 2.2 on ubuntu MATE 15.04 with the kernel 4.00 alpha 4 today. I booted my first Linux distribution that I ever bought. It's S.u.S.E Linux 5.0 from 1997. That's really impressed to work with my first Linux distribution and with the modern ubuntu MATE 15.04 PowerPC together at the same time.
It's nice to see the old S.u.S.E FVWM 2 and the old Netscape browsers.
Have a nice weekend!
Christian

| Yeah, our best WebKit browser for PowerPC QupZilla is very fast and works very well on ubuntu MATE 15.04 PowerPC! It's faster than Firefox.

| Could you test the beta 1 ISO of ubuntu MATE 15.04 with a Pegasos I+II or with the Eyetech AmigaOnes?
Download: ubuntu-mate-15.04-beta1-desktop-powerpc.iso
Just for info: ubuntu MATE 15.04 was tested on some old Power Macs successfully.

| @xeno74 I guess I was very lucky. Too heady with success at reinstalling Ubuntu 12.04LTS I decided to test 15.04 myself, never considering that it might wipe out my Amiga OS4 disk! It didn't, but it did mess up my 12.04 install, and not being able to give the right info for internet connection, 15.04 conked out on me (I had to quit, against its advice) midway.
Then when I tried to boot 12.04, I was told there was nothing bootable at "/" It did offer to upgrade to "12.04.2" but apparently that was not in good faith.
I booted the DVD again. GParted and Disk Utility didn't show anything wrong with /dev/sdb1, so I took a look with the install program. It offered to install 12.04 "alongside the existing 12.04.5" (!), so I let it have a go. I think it just made a mess of the disk, so I'll probably clear it up and install one more time.
But I was lucky and learned some things should just be left up to the experts.
Oh, I was also surprised to discover that OS4's Media Toolbox can no longer even look at the disk! It offers to "Install" it, but I declined.
Oho! I checked one more thing before calling it a night. I now have a bootable Ubuntu at sdb5! Last edited by kilaueabart on 28-Mar-2015 at 07:59 AM. Last edited by kilaueabart on 28-Mar-2015 at 07:38 AM.

Fantastic! Well done!
@All
With systemd, the mate-settings-daemon starts 10 minutes later after the desktop login. I found a way to reactivate Upstart. You can reactivate Upstart with "sudo apt-get install upstart-sysv". After that the mate-settings-daemon works without any problems.
By the way, I updated my ubuntu MATE PowerPC to version 15.04 beta 2 yesterday.
Beta 2 download for Power Macs: ubuntu-mate-15.04-beta2-desktop-powerpc.iso
Download Ubuntu 15.04 ramdisk image (initrd.gz) for the AMIGA one X1000: initrd-15.04-modified.gz
Note: initrd-15.04-modified.gz currently works for installation only with the latest kernel *release* *candidate* of version 3.19 since it has been modified before the final 3.19 kernel has been released. I suggest to download the initrd-15.04-modified.gz with a right click on the link and then with the menu point "Save target as" or something like this.
Epiphany is available for Lubuntu, Xubuntu, and ubuntu MATE 15.04 PowerPC. It's a very fast WebKit browser.
I released the installation instructions for the Ubuntu Server 15.04 in the Hyperion forum:
http://forum.hyperion-entertainment.biz/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=2943&p=32906#p32906.
If you find any mistakes in the installation instructions please let me know.
Rgds,
Christian

Does this uninstall systemd, or leave it installed but inert?

I'd love to try this on my Pegasos II. Any hints on how to install it? It looks like the available ramdisk image is for the AmigaOne X1000 only.. and so are the install instructions...
Gr8 work btw!
