Hi all...

ok, not sure where to start with this but if I may, can I direct all you fine fellows to:
Amiga-Mediator site on Way Back Machine.

Basically long ago now I private messaged a member of these forums about a few of the sites which he claims to have designed and set-up. I never recieved a answer back from this person and despite trying to contact him again I have never actually got any response back. Now I hope that you have had time to quickly look at the above address (unfortunatly WBM had not saved all the pages of the site) but I believe it has saved enough for a accurate comparisson.

If you have a look at the following websites:
DJBase Homepage ,
Jaberwocky - Amiga

I am sure that you should be able to see it is a direct rip of my code, complete with most of my original typos infact, if you look at the source to the sites you will see even more the same..)

Also, if you look at the last version of my site at Amiga-Mediator - Mail List Section and compare it to Dragon Mail List section I am sure that you should once again be able to see a clear pattern between the two pages..

Now I know I must sound like a whinging git about this, but what has really got on my nerves is the fact that on both his 'homepage' and the 'jaberwocky' page he has the audacity to claim that the design of both these sites are down to him. In both of the messages I have sent him, I have only asked for recognition in the 'credits' at the bottom of the pages to say that it was infact based on the work I put in long ago.

Thanks for taking the time to read through this and I hope the DJBase has the decency to at the very least answer me here since he obviously is too busy to reply to private messages and emails sent to him..

@Stom

Sorry for sounding like a web illiterate, but what are we looking for here?

@T_Bone

It looks suspiciously similar to me, just read the text in the mail list documents, he's even copied some of Stom's typos. I've not looked at the source yet,

example:

Stom's site:

"It is ok up to a point but try to keep it to a minimum, I am sure there are other members on this list that would prefare to have no 'chatter' at all. Once the email has got past 4 or 5 mails of 'off topic' please take it off list and converse privately"

DJBase's site:

"It is ok up to a point but try to keep it to a minimum, I am sure there are other members on this list that would prefare to have no 'chatter' at all. Once the email has got past 4 or 5 mails of 'off topic' please take it off list and converse privately"

Even the mis-spelling of prefer has been copied, which will probably be changed when DJBase reads this

@Severin

Heh, you never know, maybe he's got an "Alice's Restaurant" excuse
("Yes officer, I admit it, I put that envelope underneath that pile of trash.")

Yea, that looks templated.

@T_Bone

yup, and I all I ask from DJBase is the recognition that he has based his sites on code I wrote ages ago (typos, mistakes, warts n all!)

I'm sure DJBase will do the respectful thing and credit your efforts. Patience is key in such matters.

@Stom

Unfortunately DJBase is no longer a member here, you would best pm this to him in Amiga.org or make a post on ann.lu where I think he still hangs out.

I hope you at least get some recognition and an apology for not giving you the credit for his "work".

@L8-X

thanks for that, I was trying to find a user list or something just to confirm if he was a member on here still or not.. I couldnt find one.

I guess i will have to let it lie for now, its been well over a year since I first tried contacting him (and several times since via email and PM) and have had no luck. Either my mails are not getting to him, or secondly he is getting the mails but obviously thinks he is better than to admit that he 'cribbed' the code from elsewhere and give recognition for it..

(I am sure that those who had things like this happen to them would feel a bit miffed by it.. in some way its flattery that he find my original design so nice, but it doesnt get around the fact that he should in the very least give some kind of thanks and not claim the design as his own.. (hell, if he asked it wouldnt have been a problem.. the fact he didnt is what gets on my nerves..)

Anyway.. I'll try and shut up about it now.. thanks guys.. good to see that there are some that aggre with what I have said!
