Looking to sell my A1 (cause I'm dirt poor!)

Well, long story short, I'm dirt poor right now. Been unemployed for almost a year cause I can't find anyone that will hire me in IT work (looking elsewhere now), but I need rent money for this month. So I'm thinking of selling my A1 to someone who could use it here in the USA. I've no idea how much it would be worth for the motherboard and maybe some of the bits for it (like RAM and the video card, and the CPU fan, want to keep the case and most of it's innards). It's an A1-XE G4. For more info about it see this post in the forums.

So how much is it worth? Once I have some idea, I'll post it in the classifieds.

Why am I wanting to sell this? Well, all I ever use it for is to backup my email in Thor from my server. I do most of my email reading in Gmail any more, and Thor runs just as well in WinUAE as it does on the A1. I need the money more than I need the A1 right now. Maybe later on I can get something else, like a Sam or the X1000, once I have money again.

Sorry to hear about your work situation. I hope something comes your way soon. Is this a complete A1 system? If so, what is the configuration? Any idea about price? I maybe interested.

@WeiXing3D

Gotta be careful, should keep actual selling offers to the Classifieds section.

Anyway, it would be just the motherboard, RAM, cooler on the CPU, and the video card as a set, with the copies of OS4 I've got. I'm wanting to keep the other stuff (PSU and case).

I'll also check out your PM.

@DWolfman

So, anyone got an idea how much this would be worth? I know I paid about US$940 for the board and a few pieces back in 2009 when I got it. I just don't know if that is what they are still worth or not when it's not a complete system.

It is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay for it. Why not list it on the classifieds as open to offers and see what you get?

Yeah, that works too.

I did a little more digging around, think I have a starting point. I'm gonna think this over some more and probably post it in the morning.

well, I hope this does not sound offending to you or anyone else, but I would propose to collect some money, I can spare 10EUR this month, maybe if 100 other users around here could too, it would buy you one month time and you could keep your A1...

well, my two cents..ehm...10 bucks..
I'm already wearing a helmet, waiting for the stones now..

@Amigo1

I would appreciate the help, thanks. And if anyone else wants to, I'll have to figure out how to get it.

I've got a Paypal account, in the process of linking it with my bank account. Haven't used Paypal since I bought this A1 I'm wanting to sell, so it's been neglected and has not been connected with a working bank account for a while.

But Paypal is an option anyway.

Though another one I've got is something that's been around for about 4 years now. The virtual/digital currency called Bitcoin. Really liking the way that works, and it allows people to send Bitcoins to anyone else in the world almost instantly (transaction propagates within seconds, the verifications take up to an hour). Too bad there isn't an Amiga client for it yet.

For those that are using Bitcoin and want to send something my way, my Bitcoin address is 1BY2rZduB9j8Exa4158QXPFJoJ2NWU1NGf

After it got validated I noticed I forgot some things. Closed it and created a new one, waiting on it to get validated now.

I was surprised today. Lloyd (though not sure what his username is here though) sent me 30 EUR through Paypal. It is much appreciated!

Now I have some gas money for later this week after I use up what I've got going to a job fair today.

Thanks, Lloyd!

I have put in and hope others do too. Would rather keep every Amigan we have. Damn economy! Hope you catch you on the air someday. I'm Mike M0SAZ.

@A1200

Thanks for the help, it's appreciated.

Though I don't know now if anyone would be able to do enough to really help. Just found out my mom, who has also been helping us out, had to use up the last resource she had which could have helped us with the rent to pay some taxes she owed. I've closed the ad for my A1, since it became apparent I'm not going to get enough for it in time to make a difference with the rent. I think I'd rather keep it anyway.

I've got some job leads I'm following up on, so hopefully something works out there. Only problem is it will probably take too long to get my first paycheck to help with the rent.
