Visit my website, www.lamtec.fr for a presentation of a new game project, a remake of Shadow of the Beast! The project is in the pipeline since some time, the recent development of AmiDark Engine and the release of a multi differential and parallax scroling demo, have revived my motivation.

@Seblam

Nice :) But on what API it was based before ? Or before it was only artwork, and now you want to make it works because of easy/cool amidark engine ?

Very nice indeed. I hope I'll not have to wait too long to see that on my X1000. Now this is another thing I have to wait for. I seem to be waiting for more and more stuff these days.

@Seblam

you must not forget to include the airship seen in the background during the open-air level ;)
that was my favorite SOTB imagination-stimulant ;)

Ahhh the memories... making a Beast remake / sequel was (is?) an old dream of mine. Only got as far as doing a CD

Good luck with your project. Careful with copyrights and such, being freeware doesn't make it exempt from those issues.

Here's some inspiration for you:

Man it looks amazing! Congrats, and there's a certain Oddworld-esque feel to it that really sets it apart.
Keep on with the good work!

The main character looks pretty "static"... always the same stance... strange isn't it ?

No - they are just mock ups.

@Plexus

Here would be another wishlist idea :

Dungeon Master Remake for Amiga

Mega-Lo-Mania Remake

Alien Breed 3D Remake

Banshee Remake

Guardian Remake

Shadow Fighter Remake

Ultimate Body Blows Remake

The list would go on, I reckon. Turrican Remake should be ported to Amiga platform I reckon.

Cheers

@all

Thanks for the nice feedback! To give more informations about the project and to avoid any confusion, my job in the project will be more a project manager job. I am interesting in a lot of computing stuffs, I do some coding, graphics etc, but I am not a specialist. My general knowledge let me know what are the ressources necessary for such a project, the people needed for each areas. So, primary goal is creating the team, that's why I ask for musicians, graphists... Then my job will be to make all the people working well together, a rather classic management work. The biggest challenge will be to ensure that we complete the project, you all know it's not so easy with hobby projects.

@ruben

I would be very interested to listen your CD. There are already some nice SOTB music remixes on the web. My feeling are still mixed wether to use remixes or new creations for our remake. Any opinion?
The rendering picture is quite nice, do you know the author?

@Seblam

Well, I think it's best not to use any logos or music from the original. Again, it's the only way to be 100% sure it's ok. And it would allow for some more creativity, as you'll be bringing something fresh. You just need to capture the feel of the original.
Make it an unofficial sequel instead of a remake. Look at Hurrican for example, they use their own art and audio and it keeps the Turrican feeling intact.

The author of that picture is Rui Guerreiro, is site is here

And here's the amazing credits video

The Immortal CD is sold out. A reprint was under consideration, but seems unlikely.

@Seblam

Awesome graphics! just like when the original SotB first came out!

Bear in mind though, that the game was also notorious for being so damn difficult! Most people never got to see some of the amazing graphics because they could never get that far!

So, will this game be a little easier than the original?
