| Two days ago I was working to install SCANdal on MacMini G4, in order to see if my USB+WiFi multifunction Printer Epson Expression Home XP-302 will work with that, but I got an error of missing URLText.mcc. It was correctly installed, so before to make usual checks i tried other functions of the printer...
(i still had no time to check what was wrong with it) Oh well, good! Embedded SD Card reader works perfectly and i mounted with no problems SD card from my Kodak Camera browsing photos.... A rapid look on printer preferences just for curiosity... and.... What? Recognized as EPSON C84??? Oh sweet! Let's get trying YAY! What a pleasant surprise... IT WORKS! I selected a resolution of 720x720dpi in order to save ink cartridges, but C84 can print at a resolution of max 720x1440 DPI.
XP-302 can print even at superior 5760x1440 but I am confident that the printer driver could be modded.

You shouldn't install SCANdal separately, it already comes with MorphOS and should work out of the box. Only driver installation may be needed._________________ - The wiki based MorphOS Library - Your starting point for MorphOS - Software made by jPV^RNO |

Urltext.mcc comes with MorphOS too (at least nowadays). Why are you using 2.7 instead of the latest version? _________________ - The wiki based MorphOS Library - Your starting point for MorphOS - Software made by jPV^RNO |

I am always amazed for the fact amigans announcing good news and people of Amiga always look at pointing finger and not the moon pointed by it...
For the fact I am using 2.7 I could easily say mind your business to all asking but instead of it I will answer politely.
MacMini G4 was previously owned by prof Peruggi and its installation was good and clear so I continuing using it.
Now I have more than 50/60 gigs of data that I want to save elsewhere before reformatting and installing 3.x as I want to create dual partition system to boot from MorphOS and MacOS X.
Is it enough? Last edited by Raffaele on 23-Apr-2014 at 04:39 PM.

That's useful to know, thanks for sharing. Is it a Turboprint driver you are using?

You don't need to format. MorphOS is easily upgardeable. I never had issues with that (and did eevry update on my mini since 2.4). Just make a mirror copy of yor sys: partitition to be on the safe side and then just update (sic!). I.e. don't make a new installation, just update. If you encounter issues anyway, just copy back the backup of your sys: partition and you're back there again. _________________ My programs: via.bckrs.de MorphOS user since V0.4 (2001) |

Yep... And what part of "I will make dual Operating Systems boot dual partition" sounds not clear?
I don't believe MacOS X will appreciate running into SFS or ICEFS partition...
At least Mac environment wants some HFS+ space allocated for itself... And even if ICEFS is powerful and full of features I never heard existing Amiga partitions could shrink by magic making room for MacOS X and saving automatically all my data in a safe place... What I meant is that you can easily just upgrade independently of any other plans to change/reorganize things on the mini with about one hour time effort (backing up SYS:, donwloading the iso and start the update process). It's worth the effort. Anyway...
But I have a suggetsion for a dualbootsetup: Don't put OS X on the internal disk, but get a firewire external disk where you can put OS X in it. Keeps you more space for MorphOS, you don't need a fresh installation, but can keep your existing one and your "bootmenu" is the physical firewire plug. If firewire disk is pluged in on power up/reset, OS X stars, if not pluged in MorphSO starts. Disadvantage: You need an external disk which leads to spending a few more EURs and you have another item on your table. But apart from that I find that solution pretty handy. it's also a plus if you have more than just one Mac. I can use my single OS X installation on both my mini and the Powerbook. _________________ My programs: via.bckrs.de MorphOS user since V0.4 (2001) |

Sounds sweet...
So I can update 2.7 also right immediately without saving data first and reformatting to obtain two partitions...
I have to search and buy firewire case from internet, as no vendors have it in stock, but this is not a problem.
Thanks. _________________ "When the Amiga came out, everyone [at Apple] was scared as hell." (J.L. Gassée, former CEO of Apple France and chief of devs of Mac II-fx, interviewed by Amazing Computing, Nov 1996). |
