BSZili has thankfully taken over the task to port Magellan to AROS what will offer new chances. As a small thankyou we have created a small bounty for the port:

http://www.power2people.org/projects/profile/66

Task is:
Port the main program, library, and modules
Fix endianness problems
Replace DOS packets with dos.library functions
Provide workarounds for or implement missing AROS functions where possible.

The sum is 150$. I have already donated 50$ and hope that others support it too. Thank you in advance.

@OlafS25

Good news! Things have been pretty quiet for a while (from a user's point of view) so I'll look forward to trying this out.

@clebin

yes it was. I do not know what the "Aros devs" are planning for the next months, I am working on the new version of Aros Vision with Magellan as desktop. In September there will be Antyriad Gx with full AROS support. And then now the AROS port of Magellan that will considerably improve user experience.

@clebin

Magellan seems to be very similar to Ambient when I read the descriptions (or the opposite ). It will catapult AROS on the same level (desktop) as MorphOS and AmigaOS. I am really still excited what you can do with it (f.e. with the file types). Before "MorphOS" fans protest that AROS never can be as good as MorphOS, I know Magellan now quiet good and I have read descriptions of Ambient (not owning it myself). The functionality sounds very similar and how it will feel can people judge when the first AROS distributions based on Magellan are ready to download.

@OlafS25

Fantastic news. As much as Ive enjoyed a lot of BSZili's ports already, this is the one Im most excited about. Bit broke for the moment, but I'll definately have to throw him some beer money sometime soon, even if I miss the bounty.
Thanks to everyone else involved so far as well.

@fishy_fis

the bounty sum is there (of course everybody is free to donate more or direct to BSZii)

+1

Yes I think it is one of the most interesting and promising ports to Aros ever. When I started the Magellan bounty to open the sources it was my dream to get it to AROS and now that becomes reality
