Wow, rocket launch.
Guess it´s partly because a lot of .org´s fled here.
I really enjoy it, the site were a bit slow before, but now it is busting with activity

@DaveyD

Congratulations! I think I will be making this my home for Amiga stuff rather than that .org site.

And Yay, for on the seventh day that traffic increased by a significant magnitutude, Mikey C, uttered this topic elsewhere.

And lo, the ripple turned into a tidal wave.

Let's hope the site doesn't drown in the deluge

I'll probably get flack for this, but oh well..

I would put money on it that the reason some people are leaving is because of topics like this (Apple and new AmigaOS4 Compatibility).

Maybe if the moderators of the other site were a little more hardline about off-topicness, this wouldn't happen. If users wanted to read about Peg/MOS, they'd read a Peg/MOS topic, not an AmigaOS4 topic.

Personally, I find it insulting and in bad taste that this is allowed, and I mean in ALL cases, even when the it's the other way around or even when unrelated to the current OS/hardware "wars."

But, c'est la vie, it's not my site.. The site owner and its moderators have the right to run the site as they see fit, even when the policy creates an exodus of such a magnitude as shown in your stats.

Personally, I won't stop visiting there and being entertained, but I'll sure be posting a lot less when the topics are interrupted like the example I noted.

It is my opinion that if this (amigaworld) site can keep the lines drawn (keep it on topic and uninterrupted, where possible) when a topic is posted (and that goes both ways .. if an AmigaOS4 post is made, Peg/MOS fans stay out of it unless they have something good to say or are asked for their $.02 [e.g. benchmarks, comparisons, topic specifically created for debate, etc.] and vice versa -- same goes for Amiga fans when the tables are turned and a contrasting topic is posted), then this site will do just fine, IMHO.

@Magic2003

This is what you need http://www.spacialaudio.com/products/sam2/index.html?page=screenshots

It's what I used to use for Amigaworld Radio.

HMetal:

If you hadn't mentioned that thread at AO I would not have read it. Its awful! This is exactly what happened at moobunny. It took a while but now they mostly talk to themselves over there.

I have to admire "Ray" (err Kay sorry) and others for trying to counter the distortions but I pick my "fights" carefully and it seems a lost cause there ATM.

I also will continue to visit (for now) to check for any breaking Amiga news but don't expect to post much there.... a very sad thing for me.

It was my "home" for a long time and a great Amiga site with good give and take but I don't see that now. This place is lookin' mighty good.

Bob C.

Sorry Meant Kay not Ray..nice to see you here Kay.

Damn right it is. Someone asks a question about AmigaOS4, then along comes Seehund with his petition, then comes the MOS cavalry, then Buck starts rambling about greek mythology, and finally the entire thing turns into a debate on Mac vs. PC. It's amazing the newbie wasn't scared away.

Not saying that my performance there was too great either, I didn't avoid being dragged into a "getting the last word"-competition with Buck, but at least I tried to answer the questions which were asked.

I never expected it to deteriorate into that either !!

I try to steer clear of that sort of posting, which is why I never posted further in that thread.

I don't like being brainwashed with the sight of his petition all the time neither. Should we tell him to remove his signature while posting @ AmigaWorld?

Any ideas?

Well, I don't mind the signature that much. What I mind is his enormous propensity to repeat the same old "the AmigaOne isn't an Amiga" and "AInc's licensing policy sucks" tirade whenever the opportunity occurs. My mood drops a notch whenever I catch a glimpse of his avatar, because I fear it will be the same old nag once more. Don't get me wrong, he IS entitled to his opinion, and he IS entitled to get it heard. It's just that I think we've all heard it by now. Still, he hasn't really done anything here which qualify him for sanctions yet, IMO.

Ugh... Thanks Kay, you saved me from going over and seeing what it was all about. Sounds like business as usual over there.
