| Hi,
I'm considering switching from WinXP to 7 rc.
What about emulation? I mean - UAE alone - AmigaForever Player - AmiKit - AmigaSYS - AIAB - ClasicWB
Anybody has any experience on 7 beta or Vista? The sites say nothing. Thanks in advance. Fortunately I have Linux, too, so I wouldn't loose anything anyway.

Well given that AmiKit, AmigaSYS, AIAB and ClassicWB all need WinUAE to run, so long as UAE works, they will.
As far as I know, WinUAE 1.6.1 is working on Win 7 RC, although I have not tried it myself on the RC as I only have it running in a VM, and it is as slow as wading waist deep through mud.
That said, there are people that are running it right now on Win 7, so things are looking good for it to work on the final release. Last edited by _Steve_ on 28-Jun-2009 at 09:41 PM.

It is wiser to switch to a new windows version as late as possible.
Let the Windows fans first find all problems and issues, wait until most companies support the new OS version and wait until you get software that is ready for it and don't use it as long as no service pack exists. Last edited by Arko on 28-Jun-2009 at 09:51 PM.

I know that. But my point is that the only application of Windows system at my home currently is all listed above Well maybe HoM&M IV (as long as it works), that's it pretty much it
I'd like to use the current RC promotion (free for a year as long as registered this July). _________________ Amiga 1200 + WARP 1260 + AmigaOS 3.2 |

WinUAE works fine. I've got it set up and running with the same hardfile as I had under XP, no problems.
As for the other stuff, can't say since I don't use them. _________________

Winuae is working fine here under win7 beta so should also work ok with the rc.
i wouldnt worry about waiting to use Windows 7 until all the bugs are ironed out, its already a lot faster and more stable than vista ever was and im still using the Beta (for the next day or so, then it expires) _________________

I have been using the WinUAE under Windows MalaVista and the emulator works very fine but I recommend you that not use MalaVista and you wait to new Windos 7 that I heared that it uses less recourses because MalaVista needs much memory to work minimum 2 GB and a fast CPU and all for nothing because MalaVista is a very very Windos' operative system, well Windos ME too. |
