Get hold of Amiga Explorer, a nullmodem cable, an Amiga 500/600/1200 or whatever, and a workbench disk (version 1.2 or higher) and you're all set. Or you could of course just buy a Catweasel _________________ God is a man with a grey beard. His name is Jay Glenn Miner. |

For ClassicAmiga (don't know about A1 yet) You can also copy the ADF from your PC to your Amiga using (720K/880K) Floppies (using CrossDOS). I also use Split (PC Freeware or Shareware) to split files which are too large into smaller part, then JOIN to put them back together on the Amiga (Cli Command). After you have your ADF on the Amiga, you just need to use ADF2Disk to copy them back to an Amiga Floppy.

| Here's a page from the (currently defunct) Amiga Wiki:
To transfer an ADF file to an Amiga-formatted floppy disk is a multi-stage process. To begin with, you must realise that the PC floppy controller simply can't write or read Amiga disks ([[Disk2FDI]], a cunning hack, can only read). So the ADF file needs to be transferred to the Amiga. The easiest way is with cables. The most straightforward one is a [[NullModem]] cable, connect it between both computers, then using a decent terminal program on each end, z-modem it over (a process that should take around 3 minutes per uncompressed .adf). There are more complex ways going over TCP/IP, either you already have that set up or z-modem will be easier. Alternatively, you can use more disks. [[AmigaOS]]2.x and above can read MS-DOS formatted double density disks, and there is a program called "CrossDOS" for other versions. So format a disk as double density (720k) on the PC (or any other platform that can write an MS-DOS formatted disk. Note that to do this under WinXP you'll need to enter a DOS prompt and use fancy parameters with the format command - that's progress for you...) It doesn't matter if you only have high density disks - simply put a piece of tape over the hole opposite the write-protect hole, but don't plan on using those disks long-term. Now you've got a disk that both systems can read, but the ADF won't fit on it. One way to solve this is to compress it using a tool that both the Amiga and the PC can understand, such as LHA or Zip. If that doesn't work for you, you can split the file, which while trivial in computational terms is fairly complicated to actually do given different OSes and software. Once you get it in bits on the Amiga tho join command should be able to put it back together. Of course, nothing makes you stick to disks if you have an expanded Amiga that has more removable storage drives. Just stick the ADF on something that both the Amiga and PC can read - CD-R, ZIP, whatever. That way you won't also need to split the file.

Not much up on the emulator, but are you trying to create adf images so the emulator can read them on the PC. ADF is just an archiving format that saves a disk image as a single file so that you can un-crunch it ( as I like to put it ) as a whole floppy disk as originally intended for use on the Amiga. The emulator as I understand, reads these adf files as if they were floppy disks from the Amiga. So if you have an adf image on the PC you can simply target it with the emulator and hey presto... you can fool yourself into thinking your actually using an Amiga floppy drive.
Now.. if you want to create an adf file on the Amiga and transfer to the PC your gonna need a the PC0 or PC1 set up on the Miggy with CrossDOS so that you can read the floppy formatted from the PC. Remember that you need to format the floppy on the PC. This normally means using a HD disk so you could also do with an XL floppy drive on the Amiga with the patch to run the HD disks. Next you create an image on the Amiga of the desired floppy using programmes like ADFBlitzer and the like ....
Write: Lets you write an adf-file from your harddisk to your diskdrive (DF0:!)
Read: Lets you create an adf-file from df0: to your Harddisk!
http://uk.aminet.net/aminetbin/find?adfblitzer
Then you transfer the file to the PC disk activating the PC0 or PC1 with the CrossDOS facility. Make sure you name the file with its adf extension ie myfile.adf and simply take it to your tin box.
However if your after taking an adf to the Amiga, again you need the PC1 device/DOSdriver loaded and hey presto you can read the tin box Dross disk er sorry PC disk on the Amiga and copy it to a folder. Then simply fire up your ADF file decruncher, load in a blank Amiga disk ( formatted Amiga ) and whoooosh you have taken advantage of the poor tin box to give yourself an Amiga disk. As long as thats legal ...
There is a section on disk mashing in the help section of my web site.

A PC can't read or write Amiga disks without a special adapter. If you don't have such a thing, the easiest way to turn your diskimages back into disks is to put them all on a CD and take it to an Amiga with a CD player. Then use transdisk (or something else that can do the same) to write the images back to floppy disks. "transdisk -w filename.adf" should work.
Kind regards,

| The PC *cannot* natively read or write Amiga disks!!!
You can either use the Catweasel floppy controller (see News page) or copy the ADFs to a readl Amiga using a serial connection and a program (Amiga Explorer, WarTrans etc) and use the transdisk utility to write them to an Amiga 880K disk.
