@thread

From my point of view, I like the fact that Amiga Inc has re-designed the website and has some more recent information and news to offer.

I'm not too keen on the layout, I actually thought the original looked better!

As for the news, not very encouraging for OS4 users and prospects; its all about DE, thats it.

Verdict: happy for the update, not overly happy with the update.

I'm pleased for Garry and the crew; they seem a bunch true to their word, I'm just not sure how much interest Amiga Inc really has in OS4 these days (I thought things would be different!)

Rude!

Then stop whining about what is there. Create a mockup and see what response you get from Amiga inc. Do you need some space to put it on?

@whoever says "new site=change=company alive=good"

Building a new site is about enhancement, right?
The new site has a IMHO a *worse* look than the other, it has *much much much less* content than the "old" (actually the new looks older than the old...), almost no info about OS4...
And still, yes, they spent time and money... to do THAT. What a shame.

I real business would never allow someone to build their corporate website for free. There are just too many problems associated with an idea like that.

Where do you think Amiga is going to make the money to survive? DE!
Also, did you miss the part about OS5?

Look - I didn't say it was awful and I certainly didn't say DE was a bad thing. But I would have liked to have seen something more in relation to OS4, since that has more users than DE.

And yes, I did!

Looks like crap IMHO and no new (even less) "amiga" information. Just DE stuff, but that was to expect i guess.

I too have to say the old page looked better. I realy realy realy hope Hyperion hire some great guy to make a OS 4 page on their server. One that won't bring shame on the real AmigaOS.

But hey, there is some comfort. Things can only get better after this.

Amiga OS might have more users than DE but the market for DE is potentially much larger. Think of all the people with PocketPC's and cell phones with color displays. They are everywhere and it is potentially a a very large market.

First.

We are not the audience for that web site. Amiga has the potential to sell millions of DE apps at a few bucks per. The most Amiga will see from OS4+ is a few thousand at best in the short term. Therefor the website does not need to distract customers from DE at this time.

It would be just horrible if people got the idea that one had to run AmigaOS to make use of the DE products.

Ok ok. DE has the potential to be much larger. Thats great - personally, I don't actually care about that, its OS4 and the desktop market I care about.

From my POV, I was a bit disappointed, but from others POV's who are into mobile gaming and PocketPCs, great!

We are happy to announce an Amiga East coast show! All the main Companies will be represented at the show. Hyperion-Entertainment, Eyetech Inc, Amiga Inc, MAI Logic.

Just to bring some hope...they quote Hyperion & Eyetech first, even before Amiga inc, and they call them "the main companies"...
probably no meaning but still good to read!

@Rudei

It is only a couple of days until the AmigaWorld on-line chat with Garry Hare. Why not wait to see what comes out of that before jumping to conclusions or doomsday scenerios?

@Rudei

Keep in mind that the AmigaOS information you and I want is on the site. You do have to look for it. Including a mention of OS5. The OS5 mention was more than I was expecting. I do feel some unease toward what Amiga inc will eventually do with Amiga OS but that one mention of OS5 makes me feel much better. Even if OS5 is a ####ized combination of DE and AmigaOS it should still be better than Microsoft everything. And at this point we just dont know. Stay tuned to stay tuned.

Where did I mention conclusions or doomsday scenarios? I'm getting a bit fed up with you people jumping to conclusions

I said I was disappointed from an OS4 Point of View, that was it. I also said I was pleased for the Amiga team - wheres the doomsday opinion or conclusion there?

Sort it out people

I am not a betting man but my point was that Amiga has a much better chance of survival with DE than AmigaOS. I stand by that idea hoping DE will pave the way for AmigaOS.

We just read several pages of put downs far worse than what you had to say. You were just the easiest target for the reply button.
I dont think most of the venting was aimed at you - but the others that made truly foolish statements.
