If Amiga, Inc want to sell their software, they have three realistic markets: PocketPC, Symbian and PalmOne. Microsoft was not responsible for CBM's implosion or any of the problems the Amiga has had in the meantime, and we all agree we need to turn down large, powerful business partners like we need a hole in our heads. I don't see why we should get ourselves involved in the MS vs Linux fight.
Actually, if I may play devil's advocate for a moment... the "old" Amiga Inc (Gary & Fleecy) made deals with Microsoft and with a Linux handheld vendor (I forget who it was, someone else might remember? I think it might have been Sharp) The Linux guys went back on their word, it was Microsoft who stuck to the deal.

| I'd gladly take part in a design contest, but only if one of the rule is that it must be done entirely using AmigaOS tools.
It's bad enough that the Amiga site isn't running on an Amiga server, it would speak really poorly of the OS's potential if another operating system has to be used to design the site too.

| As webdesigner, I will participate in the contest if it happens. Really any serious person that take a look a www.amiga.com ....... It´s seems a joke.
The image in the business is *CRUCIAL* and the web of your company must *DO THE WORK*, as you can visit the web from any place of the world. Clearlly, the web of Amiga Inc is not doing *THE WORK*, It´s simply *DISASTROUS*.
Anybody that know anything how to do business, and how to sell a brandname like *AMIGA*, cannot have that type of web.

So far 3-4 good webdesigners have joined the contest (If Amiga.inc makes it possible)
Let's see what Mr. Garry Hare have to say tomorrow at the IRC meeting

| The amiga has survived thanks to community, how about a new amiga.com homepage made by the community? It will be a strong symbol wouldn`t it?
Some of you guys with talent could make some rough previews/mockups of how you would like the amiga.com to look like, and then we create a poll of which to be used. And then try to present it for the amiga.com staff.
Or am i driving on the wrong side of the road here? Last edited by Restore2003 on 19-Mar-2005 at 04:12 PM.

I think you've all got your hearts in the right place, but telling someone "your site stinks -- let me fix it" strikes me as rather audacious behavior.
If someone told me that MY web site 'sucked' and that they wanted to 're-do' it, I GUARANTEE you that my response would not be 'positive'.
Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with the site -- it's just not all that different from the last one (in overall 'looks') -- which is a bit of a let-down, but that doesn't make it 'ugly'.
I can't comment on the technical aspects of the site (since that's not my area of expertise), but it works fine for me in Internet Explorer & IBrowse -- so what's the problem? |

It works in AWeb also . The previous one had some problems IIRC. |

I certainly agree with the above statement. People should not stick their hand into someone else's pocket and suggest offering as a prize some of what they find. This proposal is like twisting arms. Using force will usually result in force of the opposite direction.
This is way premature. Try asking them first. Perhaps Amiga, Inc. really likes their new site design.
If I put forward a new web design I would not care for someone insisting it was not good then whipping up a lather to change my design and wanting me to pay for a prize for the best design._________________ Moxee AmigaOne X1000 AmigaOne XE G4 I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. |

Yes, true about that. I hope the page design gets changed also. I just want it gone about in the most polite way. There is no need to ridicule someone's work no matter how unpleasing it appears.
I actually like the original page design better. I liked the rotating in the upper left corner banner._________________ Moxee AmigaOne X1000 AmigaOne XE G4 I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. |
