| When I installed upd3 I noticed that scrolling in AmiPDF completely outprioritizes audio (at least with AmigaAmp). It seems as if multitasking is inhibited while scrolling (just as in MultiView on Classic, and perhaps also OS4). As soon as I stop scrolling audio continues to play.
Anyway, this is annoying. Can something be done about it?? _________________ - Don't get fooled by my avatar, I'm not like that (anymore, mostly... maybe only sometimes) > Amiga Classic and OS4 developer for OnyxSoft. |

I tried this with SongPlayer. I had to zoom in & scroll real fast & the audio cut out a little. µA1 G3 here.
As a side note, thanks for sending me the key file for your 'TheMPegEncGUI' program.

| For me Audio always stops/cuts when dragging or resizing windows. Thats one of the most annoying things in OS4. It's really embarrassing.

if the screen is locked by some other application for longer time, so programs can access it, and this can end in program stopping to respond for the same given time period.
This can easily be fixed by rendering the gfx in frame buffer, and copy the completed result to screen when finished, limiting the lock period to the minimum, or by enabling AmigaAMP to run 2en process just playing music, while then main program is waiting for access to the screen.
unless the problem is due to heavy CPU load, or by disableing multitasking forbid() permit() and enable() disable() _________________ http://lifeofliveforit.blogspot.no/ Facebook::LiveForIt Software for AmigaOS |

I played around with the AmigaAmp buffers in the prefs, and have managed to minimise this effect. If the buffers are too small, this happens, if they are too big the scrolling movement is jerky. You can probably eradicate it completely by changing the task priorities, but I've not tried this.
Now it only cuts out a bit when scrolling through "document" class files in Multiview (AmigaGuide, HTML, etc). Not sure about AmiPDF, I tend to scroll through very slowly with the keyboard with that.

I reported this bug to Rogue some weeks ago. But I got no reply from him so I don't know if he got it.
But it sure is annoying. Especially on a OS that is said to have this amazing multitasking. Hopefully it'll be fixed in future versions of OS4.

Well, I tried to do the same but no buffer could fix this for me. Not even preloading the whole song and adding a 20s playbuffer.

That's weird. In AmigaAmp I have the load buffer at 256 k and the play buffer at 1 second and I can scroll all I want in AmiPDF without problems. As soon as I set the play buffer to 1/10th or 1/20th of a second, then it gets in trouble indeed. It's probably because the input.device priority is higher than the task feeding the audio. _________________ Audio Evolution http://www.audio-evolution.com |

No, I don't think AHI is guilty at all. It runs at pri 50, that should be higher than anything else. _________________ Audio Evolution http://www.audio-evolution.com |

Can't reproduce. wild guess: which soundcard are you using? May be it is SBLive! bitching again? @Ayalo
I am using non-solid windows manipulations.

Well you should be able to reproduce it quite easily.
1. start a mp3 song with any MP3 player. 2. Open a pdf file (any size) with AmiPDF. Tested with both 400kb and 4MB PDF, no difference. 3. Press the left mouse button on the vertical (to the right) slider and KEEP the mouse button pressed while sliding the page up'n'down WITHOUT releasing it. This WILL make the sound play stutter and even not play at all for a while until you stop sliding it or release the mouse button.
I have tried to change priorities in AmigaAMP/AMPlifier but nothing will change this behaviour.
Note, I have 750GX, maybe this CPU is not powerful enough for this? But really I would think it should be...
