@Samwel

The problems described are not related specifically to the 750GX.
Several developers in the thread are owners of XE G4.

Best Wishes,

@number6

Yes I noticed. But some say they can't reproduce this which lend
me to believe that they maybe have faster CPU's, ie 1GHz G4.
These use Altivec optimization in AmiPDF and therefore helping
the CPU with some of the load.

@Samwel
Using the OS4 pre-release update 3 PDF, I'm unable to reproduce this on my system. I zoomed in 3-4x, no difference. Used USB or PS2 mouse, no difference (PS2 always allows faster movement on my system). Unable to duplicate.

System:
A1XEG4-933 fixed
512MB RAM, memtester passes
Radeon 7000 64MB video
M Audio Revolution 7.1
AmigaAmp using current mpega.library
updated AHI from OS4Depot

Can you use the same doc and reproduce it with that?

@wegster

As I wrote, I have G3 and therefore do not get the +20times faster
AmiPDF. Maybe this is causing the problem?

Maybe some other G3 users could follow my instructions?

@Samwel

I have kept quiet on this topic since I don't have a sound card installed in my A1. I think I have a SBLive 5.1 stashed somewhere, I'll try to dig it up and see what happens, but it will take at least a few days.

BTW, do you have VBlank interrupts enabled or disabled?

@antony

Where do I set VBlank to on or off?
I have not changed anything concerning vblank since installing OS4
so I suppose it's in default.

@Samwel

I did your test & get the audio cutout when scrolling. The more I zoomed in, the worst it got. A pdf with graphics will do it more then a text pdf. I tested scrolling with DOpus & IB & no audio cutout. Only AmiPDF & AmiGS show this problem. One thing I did notice is that the audio is ok when I first start scrolling, but after about 5 sec. the audio cuts & the condition stays that way.

@sundown & @samwell

Confirmed here also on Micro A1-C GX.
Note:Audio was running on own public screen. AmiPDF on workbench. Same result.

Please try this:
"Grab" the resize gadget from the pdf window while the audio is playing.
Try different rates of speed downsizing the window by dragging to the upper left
hand corner of the screen and then upsizing back to the lower right hand corner
of the screen.
Do you see any relationship between the level of audio distortion and the speed
at which you resize the window?

Best Wishes,
#6

@number6

No audio distortion on my system when re-sizing the window. I seem to have a restriction in size though as I can't move very far to the left, only a little left & up.

I think my head is going to explode!

It's changed by setting "INTERRUPT=Yes" or "INTERRUPT=No" in the tooltypes of Devs:Monitors/Radeon, or whatever it's called on your system.

@Samwel & all

Edit the tooltype INTERRUPT in the Devs:Monitors/Radeon icon to INTERRUPT=No & see if the audio plays without breaking up, it fixed it for me.

Sil680
and INTERRUPT=YES on monitor icon...

Exactly. Only AmiPDF/GS show this behavior.

I have a SB Audigy on emu10kx in my A1-XE/G4.
INTERRUPT=Yes in my monitor (Radeon 7000).

@sundown

Well what should it be set to? ON or OFF?
What's the difference? What does it do?

Mine was set to YES and has been since I installed it I suppose.
I have also only noticed this on AmiPDF/AmiGS.

@Samwel

The tooltype "INTERRUPT" was added in update3.
Before it was included (update2), it may have had a default of -on- "Yes"
Try setting it to -off- "INTERRUPT=No"

@sundown

It fixed it for me also.
Why was it set to YES as default if it's hogging CPU time???

@thread

Doesn't anyone know what the INTERRUPT tooltype in DEVS:Monitor/Radeon does?

@Samwel

Like you, I have no idea what VBlanking does. I wouldn't say it was hogging cpu time though, but doing something else. I did save it set to 'no', but I worry that it may break something else down the road after we've forgot we changed it. Best to keep a log book with changes like this for reference just in case. I hope someone can answer your last question.

We would feel better if we knew why it worked & if its the right thing to do without risking other problems with other programs. It's one of those subtle little changes that can come back & haunt you later after you forgot you changed it.
