Mark 'bigfoot' Olsen has released five screenshots showing his Quake III port for MorphOS.

These screenshots were released after ~5 hours working on the sources.

The 2 videos released earlier were not fake but they weren't of the official Q3 but of a Q3 compatible engine that even connects to Q3 servers.

What the hell took him so long?

@All

I believe that the OpenGL Mesa is porting to OS4 these days, now that Hyperion has chosen to put Warp3D NOVA on the shelf, at least until OS4.1

@Helgis

If I got it right, Nova will not be developed, they'll focus on direct and decent OGL driver implementations.

@RWO

MiniGL should be enough for that. The MorphOS port uses TiniGL.

Yes proberly but the final Gool must be OpenGL, but tell then MiniGL is better than nothing and is a step in the rigth direction.

So come on then youve had a couple of hours to play with the source code so is it ported yet?

MiniGL has more than what Quake 3 actually needs.

What sort of boggus argument is that ? MiniGL is enough for Quake 3, but you think that before doing Quake 3, we should do a full OpenGL ?

Sorry if I can't really follow that argumentation...

@EntilZha

I wholehartly agree with you. Do the OpenGL Mesa with the 3D-drivers for the Radeon series, then get out Quake 3 and other based on the Quake 3 engine. I'm sure we can wait talking to Lucasarts for license to port Jedi Outcast. For instance, Soldier Of Fortune 2 is based on Quake 3 engine, too

@All

How can i be so stupid? Of course, the user needs MiniGL-libraries present in the LIBS: OpenAL and OpenGL support are up to the programmers, right?

While MorphOS is using TiniGL (what kind of a foolish nickname is that?), AmigaOS 4 should use MiniGL We have already seen screenshots and probably videos of Quake 1 and 2 running under OS4 with MiniGL support, and probably some modified Quake 1/2 games, too, so Quake 3 should do it..

I understand what SDK package is. That is for the programmers and the developers, so OpenAL and OpenGL are both up to the programmers to intergrate these supports, right? Did i get the picture right now or what?

@AMiGR

Oh yes, NOVA was dumped in favour of the OpenGL Mesa, which will be done by Hyperion

@EntilZha

boggus? well thank you for that nice comment.

What I was trying to say was that Full OpenGL support must be the final gool, if you
want to port Q3 miniGL is just fine but to support as many games as possible Full OpenGL is the way to go.

MiniGL is better than only having Warp3D and is ofcorse a step in the right direction.

Sure a full OpenGL is necessary, but you made it sound like a full OpenGL is required for Quake 3, which is absolutely not the case.

No, it's a contribution to the latest full SDK.
