| On my site it is possible to download an MPlayer experimental version..
it is created only to test if some modifies are correct. So:
1) There is a new CGX driver that is called CGX_VMEM_SCALE
WATCH OUT! IT IS SLOW WITH SOME VIDEO FILES! IT SCALE CORRECTLY THE IMAGE AT FULLSCREEN IT MUST BE ENABLED FROM SHELL BECAUSE NO Daniel GUI support exsist
Quote:
run >nil: mplayer -vo cgx_vmem_scale::ALWAYSBORDER -ao sdl nomefile.avi
|
2) Now it is possible to listen DVD with DTS.
WATCH OUT! THE DVD WITH DTS ARE SLOWER THAN OTHER!!! (LOL) WHEN EXIT FROM DVD PLAYING A RECOVERABLE ALERT APPEAR (must check)
3)SDL doesn't work because i have activated the Overlay, so.. no overlay, no SDL.. :)
4)The original CGX video mode should be faster. Please test it.

On the subject of the "recoverable alert": I get this sometimes and with it I get "ELF Library - Out of memory". Is that the message you are getting?
In the command line you issued: run >nil: mplayer -vo cgx_vmem_scale::ALWAYSBORDER -ao sdl [filename]
I tried the other border options. Everything OK. I tried -vo cgx_vmem with the different border options. Everything OK.
The program "CPU_Watcher" showed over 90% usage playing DVD with -framedrop added to the end of the command line you supplied. (on my system)
More testing tomorrow, but it would be easier without the error on quit.
@thread Repeating for those who missed it last time: To play DVD from the shell (using afxgroup's command line):
run >nil: mplayer -vo cgx_vmem_scale::ALWAYSBORDER -ao sdl dvd[colon]//1 -framedrop Substitute a colon for [colon] & eliminate -framedrop if you don't need it.
Please let me know of any typing errors in my command lines. One wrong letter or wrong case, or bad spacing is critical here. Thanks.

no, i have no out of memory error. I have only a recoverable alert. Nothing else. and only with DVD, not with simply avi files. _________________ http://www.amigasoft.net |

Don't worry. The message I described in post #3 occurred only with an attempt to abort playing a DVD. I did NOT see such a message with mpg, avi, etc. At the time I was pressing "ESC" several times to try and exit the DVD playback. Workbench memory in title bar showed NO drop in memory at the time this "out of memory" message appeared.
Additional note:Audio was severely affected by playback with the new "cgx_vmem_scale" mode in use. I experienced the same "stuttering" and failures with audio that we had seen in DP#3. Since you have mentioned a "slowdown" currently with this mode, I attribute the problem to that unless you mention otherwise.
Still testing latest experimental version...

Slight off-topic: I noticed that the dynamic information at the bottom of the verbose shell output from DP#5 are missing in the experimental version.
Here are some samples from playing Angels.avi in DP#5: A:149.5 V:149.6 A-V:-0.014 ct:0.149 2992/2992 1% 14% 0.4% 0 0
With a stopwatch timed to hundredths of a second, my time to play this video varied from 230.57 to 231.16, a difference I attribute to manually starting and stopping the stopwatch. I suspected that "2992/2992" was frames played vs existing frames? The file says "20 fps", which should make the play time about 150 seconds.
Edit(corrected):Error on my part due to seeing MPlayer in terms of "seconds" and not dividing by 60. Doh! 150 seconds is, of course, 2 &1/2 minutes which DOES match my stopwatch time of 2:30.57.
I would still like to know what the other numbers shown in the DP#5 playback refer to. Thanks.

Nice one! Using it now and it scales perfectly in fullscreen, except the part that its quite slow on bigger clips! But perhaps that will change one day when you least expect it ;)
but while we wait...have a mojito...or two!
also, thanks for the new beta gui denii!

Hi again. Thanks so much for testing. I realize the GUI is now available, but it might be helpful to try the file you reported by using the Shell command line as listed by afxgroup. I would be curious to know what codecs it was using. That could possibly eliminate the experimental MPlayer as the cause of the crash. Also, afxgroup does have an upload section for troublesome files to be checked. Perhaps he would like to see the file that caused this crash.
@afxgroup
We love -you- too. (Heh! I'm taking liberty in speaking for Daniel).

GUI seems to work fine. But the only two modes I have tested are cgx_vmem and cgx_vmem_scale as mentioned by Andrea.
@afxgroup
Edited my post #8. Everything makes sense now. Remind me not to post late at night.
@thread
Since I must test for the most part through shell only (in order to get verbose text output info concerning the files) I have not tested the new GUI much. If anyone could look over Daniel's new GUI more thoroughly and report back to this thread, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

OK. Everything seems quite normal with this version. Everything seems to be behaving well, as in DP#5.

My version number for the "experimental" MPLayer is showing through the shell verbose output and through the program "VersionWB" and OS4 Version command as 1.0pre8.006. Are you getting a different version # because of Altivec?
Your version # 1.0pre7.005 (August 4, 2005) matches my version # from DP#5.
