no. producing new top of the line hardware is expensive. and introducing it to the marked at a price a household is willing to pay is a sure money loosing stretegy.

as the hardware grows older and isnt state of the art, they can start to break even or even earn a little money producing and selling. thats why sony introduced a new version of the playstation. the xbox however, never turned a profit on their hardware due to bad construction and choice of components, and when xbox360 hits the marked they are put right back at the begining with an even larger loose per sold unit.

nintendo never really lost money on selling their console. opposed to both sony and micrsoft, they have been able to turn a profit on each sold unit, basicly from day one.

That's why Nintendo uses cheaper componants than the others. They can make better games for the masses so they don't need to boast of superior hardware.

As these money has been lost for the last 4 years, thats 31,71 dollars per second!!! Or 2739726 dollars per day! = 114155$ per hour

i just gota xbox a few weeks ago... it got xecuter chip and lownoise 250gb hd, it rocks!! i can use it for xbox games on hd play with other xbox players without paying for it,emulators,divx,irc,internet radio,web browsing etc... a none chipped xbox is useless if you ask me... with chip its a pirate dream multimedia box, its easy to use just ftp all the stuff you want to it, all the stuff you need you find on p2p for free :)

you should keep an eye open for cheap modded xbox that people are selling now, or you can wait after xbox360 have been released to get it even cheaper...

if micro$oft dont earn money i dont care, i save money and is having a blast!! :)

I just bought a Gamecube, I have owned PS2, Xbox and now Gamecube, and the Gamecube is my favourite. Why? Because the games are of a higher quality and also Nintendo actually still have a vision of producing a GAMES CONSOLE rather than a "HOME ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM". If I want to do all the other stuff XBox 360 and PS3 will let me do I will just switch on my Mac! To play games I am happy with something that just does exactly that, at a much lower cost.

Getting rid of many people doesn't necessary mean it's going bad! It's just a restructuring in order to have more money left!

When I worked at Goodyear plant in Luxembourg as a student, I asked my boss why people don't work as they could? (You know fresh students are always welcome: they work more for less money )
He replied: we exactly know that the same work could be done by half of the employees, but unemployemnet would double or even triple. This is true for any company! Plus they do have a way to blackmail governments!
