@all

I feel this thread has gone far enough, I know this won't be popular, I am gonna move this off the front page.

You mean the front page being cleaned from his own thread?

@ Mikey_C

AW.net should definitely remain Pro-Amiga.

@ Thread
I too was bewildered, to say the least, at what was happening at Amiga.org and joined
here when when it got ugly there.

But I think we need to do what ever we can to heal the rift whenever and wherever we
can. “We” lost some very talented people with the split. The moderation done here has
lead to this being the best Amiga site (IMO). Where the hell is Greenboy?

If any site on the Internet has a chance of healing the damage done in the past it’s
AmigaWorld.net and we need all the talent and energy and passion we can to get the
Amiga running up to top speed in this race. If not here where?

Keep the moderation as it is (more thankless work for the moderators I know) but it has
worked well.

@Bodie_CI5
Your post #55 was spot on.

Your post #144 was well said.

Well, you know, you just called for it. something tells me you'd not have the nerve to talk the same way if we were to speak in person, however...

And no, no smileys will ever cover your bad habit of trolling.

@shoe

If you were trying to be friendly for real, you'd not have replied the way you just did.

For the peace of both, just avoid making snide remarks about me when you're not even directly involved in a conversation with me.

Thanks.

This site also lost some very talented people *after* the split. Anybody remember AmigaOneProductions? He stepped over to A.org because he did not agree how some things on this site were handled.

@Mikey_C
< mod hat off >
1. As someone evidently locked this without giving a reason nor noting it in staff forums, I've unlocked the topic.

2. I think you go way overboard, and want to live in an extreme, where anyone that disagrees with you must surely be a troll. That may be an exaggeration, as typically you're fine UNTIL the 'dreaded' MOS, Peg, or bbrv words come up. I'm not a bbrv fan, but try to be fair to any sane viewpoint, and not condemn something simply 'because.'

edit removed bits not suitable for public discussion. Sorry, I was pissed.

5. MOS, Peg, bbrv and sane discussions are fine. Repeatedly spewing the same info over and over in anti-OS4 fashion can be seen as trolling, but obviously a lot can depend on the context, and I think this is a very small minority of occurances...and just the same, there can certainly be trolls of any color....which you yourself have proven in the past, IMO.

@Mikey_C
sorry, moderation of your own started thread is not proper. Ask another Mod their opinion. Until then, back to the front page.

@Mikey_C

Back to the original question:
Quote:
Do You Remember why?

Amigaworld became the biggest Amiga website?

Let me refresh your memory, it was because we left other Amiga websites which were polluted with BBRV, Genesi, and it's followers.

Yes, I remember exactly why I came here (as part of the Great Migration). I, too, was interested in the A1/OS4 route. In fact, I signed up here about the same time I received my A1.

However, I didn't come here specifically to avoid BB, and most of his followers. While I was not impressed with BBRV's (at the time) non-professional posts(*), I had no problems with Genesi/Thendic or MorphOS. To me, that was just a different, but still valid, pathway than the one I chose.

I came here due to a very small number of anti-Amiga Inc. trolls that were allowed to blast away at any mention of Amiga Inc., the A1, or OS4. It was -very- difficult to get -any- kind of information on these topics without having to wade through a flood of venom. It started on the 'bunny and quickly spread to ann, then a.org. The problem was that this small group of 'people' seemed to have a knack for 'shouting down' anyone that posted pro-A1/OS4 or anti-Peg/MOS. Thankfully, those miscreants that tried to come here to do that were quickly sniped off the wires.

While I believe that aw.net needs to maintain its focus on OS4 and its corresponding hardware, I have no problem with the occaisional foray into butterfly territory. After all, we have seen several people post threads about MS-Win and Apple. And there's a current discussion about the Playstation 3.

(*) Note that, at the time, certain persons within AInc were also spouting non-professional nonsense.

@wegster

1: Aside from moving this thread off the front page, I have not moderated it once.

2: With all due respect, Yes, I do have an anti Genesi/BBRV/Blue Trolls aversion. But, then, you weren't around when all that cr#p was happening back then. I got more than a gutful, and hence why I came over to Amigaworld. If amigaworld is gonna turn into what Amiga.org was back then (and isn't now) Then, I will await another mass exodus.

3: Sure, I am an extremist, but then, as they say, I am in my own castle, so to speak, I don't go outside this website and stir up trouble, it comes in here. But that's fine, because you know what, when things get out of hand further along the line, you won't be the one dealing with it given the time difference.

@Mikey_C

I suppose you obviously don't know my sleeping schedule, nor the amount of time I'm online then I suppose?

Shrug, sorry, assumed it was you who moved it...most put a reason when it's moved, didn't see any here nor in staff forum, which we can gladly continue this discussion if you'd prefer..
