Some work has been going on. Gorky17 is one of them, I am not uptodate on the progress though.

@evilrich

Thanks for the information. It's cool to know G17 is not abandoned.

Thanks.

BTW, if any A1 users out there can't wait for the Amiga version and are running Linux, they can download a Linux demo at:
http://demofiles.linuxgamepublishing.com/gorky17
The download contains both x86 and PPC executables.

Of course, the OpenGL renderer will suck on an A1 in Linux due to the lack of hardware-accelerated 3d driver, but the game is perfectly playable with the 2D renderer (it just looks better with the GL renderer).

Cheers,
Rich

Our world won't stop spinning after the final version I hope? What is actually the key diffence between an update and the final version? No more updates after a final?

I suppose there will be updates after the final, but I can't really tell you... Might be regulated contractually, I don't know.

Hi Rogue,

????????????

Are you saying that maybe:

FREE updates are not allowed, contractually? Although;
Purchased updates, bug fixes/tweaks would be allowed, contractually? Here, I'm not talking next revision as below.

4.2, 4.5, 4.7 PAID advanced versions of AOS4.0 may not be produced, due to the contract???

IF the last statement is the case, sell AOS4.0 perpetually in it's "not final" state.

As long as, contractually, you can keep selling AOS4.2, 4.5, 4.7, 4.9, 4.99, 4.999, 4.9999, everything is AOK.

BTW, thanks for the progress report.

Project AOS4.x looks terrific!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ikir

Something tells me 'overlay' is important to you?

If I thought this would work I would fill the screen with 'hardware'.

@Atheist
I totally agree. If possible I would have NO problem of paying for an improved version of AOS eventhough it never looses its "pre-release 4.0" surname. I think its common knowledge that if Hyperion gives up on Amiga (or is forced out by some obscure clause in a hidden contract) its pretty much dead.
I really like what you have done sofar, and im looking forward to any games

@Atheist

I find your messages extremely irritating to read because of your overuse of bold, capitals, twenty "?" or "!" characters at the end of sentences, and separating lines of text by three blank lines.

@Rogue

1. The users that have the OS4 prerelease version will have to pay for the full version?
2. Will the update 5, if it comes out, have the AmiUpdate utility with it, or it is held for the final release?
3. And finally, how about overlay (ikir: I'm with you)?

@Rogue

Thanks for the update Rogue! That's what I like about this community - the ability to speak with the OS developers directly.
