Its not just the staff that have been duped. However I don't see anyone here putting him on a rope, dragging his partly living body behind a horse then finally cutting his body into four messy parts while his heart still beats. I guess it comes down to how you (the admin) wish to deal with people who break the rules then.
I take it this is an example of what to expect if this type of incidents happen again ?

From what I have read I think the AW team are right here. Having 2 IDs is just plain dishonest and could be used to stir up trouble...
And yes - BIG respect to the Hyperion Crew!

Any individual case will be looked upon individually. Just don't abuse this free service we provide and the good faith we invest into the community.

The AmigaWorld staff agreed on how we should best treat this individual case.

Whether intended or not, this smacks of a personal attack. You may be absolutely right, he may have done this. Regardless I personally would advise to take this to email first and only to public as a last resort.

Just a friendly suggestion, nothing more nothing less. Additionally I think Matt happens to be a nice guy. Even if what you are saying is true, I really don't think it's reason enough to hang someone out to dry.

Funny I was hung out to dry a number of times on Amiga.org
with public statements after I was edited and no one contacted
me in private first. In fact one "Skippy" posted a whole thread
about me and no one moderated it.

Contacting me in private used to happen concurrently. However
in this case the site staff decided to make this whole issue
public, for many reasons including the public nature of Matts
condemnation of this site on other forums, the evidence being
public and as has been said

If you think it seems like a "personal attack", imagine how his
words about amigaworld.net elsewhere appear to us. Here he is
exposed for what he apparently did and asked to choose which
identity he will continue under.

I personally think that he should at least have been emailed before this thread was put up - unfortunately, a thread like this is just asking for differences of opinion (quickly changing into flames), which is a road I'd rather AW didn't go down...

Out of interest, is there any way that XOOPS can be modded to not allow this to happen in the first place? Something to do with IPs maybe?

Same here. There have been severe false accusations made against me at Amiga.org by a well-known ex-AO webmaster, without providing *any* proof.

Nothing was done against this person at all.

Also Bloodline outed various personal attacks against AW staff members at AO in the past without providing proof recently and this was considered acceptable enough to not do anything.
