Don't get me started on IE... Supporting IE7 is one thing, but IE6 forces me to drop PNGs and any alpha channel images. It also seems that pages that look fine on my IE6 machines look like crap on other IE6 machines which is pretty bizarre... _________________

Put up or shut up! Send money; don't make cheap remarks. I kind of like IE7. Amiga needs a better browser! _________________

IE7 may alright, but it only exists because of Firefox. Earlier IE versions only existed to kill Netscape, which is why in between, they just counted their money while web developers suffer (and still suffer) their crappy bug-ridden non-compliant browser.
There was a nice comment in the Haiku presentation at Google from Jean Louis Gassee where he said that if a certain company had their way, we'd still be using text displays.
To me, it's the clearest example or what a monopoly is and why it's bad for technology, and I can't believe that so many people in IT (usually MS sys admins) can't see that!

The ideal, IMHO, would be something related to IBrowse. Not sure if there's anything to be done here, but speeding up development would be a godsend.
Having said that, there's always something unpredictable about bounties. Can't remember clearly, but wasn't there some bounty aimed supposedly at OS4 and MOS that only managed the MOS part? Read it somewhere, not sure about details. |

can you comment on Hattys message..
"Marcik is NOT going to do an OS4 port of Sputnik, so forget it. Sputnik will be an official component of MOS 1.5 once released."
....?

Marcik already said in this thread:
Quote:
But some of you want me to support OS4 and it's my offer. |
Forgive me for saying this. I haven't been on these boards all too long really. But I swear it seems like so many things that go on are filled with needless bloody intrigue!
The man has named his terms for working on the project. It seems like the only way he will "NOT" do the port as hatty claims I think is if enough money is not raised OR perhaps if we tire Marcik out before he has even ever started.
I think it would be a lot more useful for hatty to explain himself rather than ask Marcik, being that Marcik already has been pretty clear that he will do the work, if the community can reach his financial terms within 8 months.

Marcin and I have discussed this bounty for a long time, he might not be very interested in OS4 but he is willing to do the port. I have no idea if Sputnik will be a part of MOS 1.5 but I don't have a problem if is.
IMHO Hatty is just spreading FUD, the least he could do is back up such claims. _________________

As Troles said - FUD. It realy makes me wonder why some OS4 'supporters' are trying to do everything to discourage to work on OS4 version... |

Couldn't have put it better myself!
My favourite browsers are for Amiga OS IBrowse 2.4 and for Mac OSX I use OmniWeb 5.5.4 (which cost me £8) and on the PC I use Firefox, you wouldn't catch me using IE in any flavour any any machine!Last edited by sicky on 18-Feb-2007 at 03:16 PM.

| What AmigaOS needs is a CSS-capable web browser so i hope as many as possible donate to this bounty.

It is definitely better than IE6.. But it is still not following the web standards and most of the stuff that made it better than IE6 has just been copied and pasted from other browsers like firefox. If it was not for firefox and opera, then you would still be stuck with IE6. The only reason IE7 was made was because the competition made IE6 look really bad.Last edited by Tomas on 18-Feb-2007 at 02:58 PM.
