PlayCD:
Check your CD audio cable is connected. If so and stilll no sound then open up the CD drawer in Workbench and double click on a track to test it with MultiView.

DVPlayer:
Go immediately to the first page of this thread and install all the files as linked by ZeroG. I also had trouble with no audio in DVPlayer. This should fix it.

No that is ok, if you are a fresh user, you would not know the little ins and outs before asking a forum. For that matter, even those that have been using their systems for a while may still have moments like yours, whereby something obvious is overlooked.

Is anything else out of place?

@Hypex

That posting and the posting of the link for the updated dvdvcd.plugin that now allows me to play all my dvd's, instead of only some.

@Gebrochen

Actually im very happy with my system, at least now when i have the audio working
I was updating my dvd plugin and got all the new codecs, but that did not help me much.
I think i got in the wrong direction because of the working test beep.

The next project would be to install the 68K emulator so that i can try to use my old apps on my sam.
thanks for your help.

@Ande

I think you are mistaken here.

Many, many old applications simply run on sam and os4.1 without the need of an emulator. For example, cinema 4d, word wroth7, perfect paint, personal paint, etc, etc, all work without emulation.

If you need a rough guide and a good starting list, go to my listing page on our website. website is in signature, but just in case, here it is again ;

cheers.

@Ande

How did you go about getting sound to work?

I've had my Sam + OS4.1 since Feb and still no joy.

Tried using Unit 0 in AHI prefs and made sure it wasn't muted, so what am I doing wrong?

Would it be possible for you to email your AHI Prefs to me so I can replace the one I have (hopefully containing the correct settings).

I feel sound is the only thing I am missing for my perfect system.

@1Mouse

I found that by making all units, 0 to 4 have the same settings, that this allowed me to have sound. Oh, and do not forget to set the music unit also.

Cheers.

If you still having problems, lets me know, and Ill try a screen grab of my current settings.

mmmmmmmm,

Another note, you telling me you have not had any sound on your sam440ep os4.1 setup since feb?

MAN

How do you use it as a daily runner?

I currently for the first time in five months, turned on my windows shetbox, due to getting a new psu for it, and I must say, there are only two things that I noticed I dont have on my sam, Flash and the ability to play some nic RPG's.

OH, and I got a cd32, with 90 tutles. I am a happy man.

@Gebrochen

Posted on 22 March:

Just been out and bought some external speakers.

Plugged in, switched on.

AHI settings of:
Unit 0
Frequency = 44100Hz
Channels = 32
Volume = +0.0 dB
Monitor = Muted
Gain = +0.0 dB
Input = Line In
Output = Ghosted

Using PlayCD/DVPlayer by the way but not getting sound or even the test sound in AHI prefs

@1Mouse

I will need to double check this when I get home, but, I thought 0.0 for volume would mean that there is no volume, meaning, no sound, so if you can adjust this volume to 50 or more, whatever you desire and loudness strength, I can not see a problem in why you would have no sound.

Another note, pick a device for all the units, that has ++ after it, I usually find this allows sound. Any of the other units, not sure.

Cheers.

P.S. Will check tonight the exact settings I have for you.

I am at a point that I want to throw my Sam out the window, with no audio it's little more than a brick.

Dumb Ass! -:)

Seriously don't worry about it, I have been A1-less for about 9 months, I have a 3.9 machine to build but there are differences. I KNOW I am going to have problems getting my stuff to run on SAM because all these machines are different. These forums exist for us to ask these questions, I'Il hark back to an era when there was "no stupid questions". Keep asking because then we know you are still with us.

At least Ande was able to fix his problem.

Does anyone else have insight into AHI problems

@Gebrochen, Cecilia et al.,

I was having similar problems installing ImageFX45. I decided to make my own AmigaDOS install script. With that being said, the script installs IFX, but as is the case with Gebrochen, the program does not execute. I get a requester saying, Unable to open your tool 'ImageFX' Retry, Select a different tool..., Cancel."

If someone would like to debug my script so it will work, I would be more than glad to send it to you.

Thanks,

The Phantom "?"

@1Mouse

I had sound issue problems with my A1200 which appeared to be caused by a corrupted ahi prefs file.
Perhaps you could try reinstalling that.
You could also try downloading mixer .
I take it you have tried different proggies to test if sound is working?

@TiredofLife

I helped 1mouse fix his sound problem the other day. It was because he had plugged the sound into the front ports, that are ofcourse in his case, not even connected.

When I asked him to place it into the back port, with the exact same settings I have on my SAM440EP, it worked for him.

But now we are finding he has a SabreMSN problem, and I dont know why, as he is using the latest, it should just work for him.

Could he be missing some library or something?

Cheers.

@PhantomInterrogative

Actually, you have arisen an old problem of mine, I too still do not have a working version of ImageFX and I feel like I payed my cash to support an Amiga developer, that doesnt even care about us?

Luckily since then, I still made other purchases to support other Amiga developers and their programs / software, and they have worked nicely.

Thanks guys.

As for ImageFX, man, do you read these forums at all, how do you sleep at night, giving the amiga user base a HACK job?

Sorry, Im still annoyed, as I finally managed to install it, but still doesnt wont to work totally, it still requests things, that are clearly there. aaarrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhh. I cant even use it or run it because of these issues.

I would understand if it wasnt a full release and a beta, but SHET, this guy sold us a FULL version, so HE says. WTF. Sorry, moderators, Im calming down now.

Let me know if you managed to get it working any time, even PM, even if you had my number and rang me at 3am in the morning, I want it to WORK. Otherwise it was just a waste of time and MONEY that could have gone to a port, bounty, developers software or something.

I think Im loosing it again.

Not happy.

And for that he was going to throw his Sam out the window?

What are the problems with SabreMSN?
