Thanks! I've been reading up on wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface
The male end of my cable is a DVI-D single link and so this should work: Example display modes (single link): HDTV (1920 × 1080) @ 60 Hz with CVT-RB blanking (139 MHz)
Which I think is this: MODE=1920x1080@60i+RB
I have to re-try this now -- this doesn't even show up in screenmode prefs. I tried 1280x720+RB but that didn't work either (it shows up but doesn't display).

Until someone cracks the decryption like they did for the DVD format.
But Amigas aren't effected yet anyway because not a single piece of hardware released for Amiga will be able to handle playback of Blu-ray. AROS x86 is the only platform that could handle it today, I would imagine.
If someone makes drivers for the newer ATI Radeons R5xx and up that takes advantage of some of the decoding and decryption circuitry built-in it might be possible on a future +1GHz hardware. I think we should make DVD playback handled effortlessly by the system first instead of going for the next format yet. Btw 80-100% CPU usage isn't effortlessly in my book.

The Bluray protection has already been cracked (but only by using a commercial program it seems). But i doubt any "Amiga" would have the CPU to play Blurays anyway. Last edited by fryguy on 06-Jun-2009 at 11:56 AM.

In the future ,about not too long, i hope there will be a 64-bit version of the new AmigaOS ready, to support higher HD-resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 in PROGRESSIVE mode..

You know that monitors that support this resolution needs to be produced and sold to consumers? Also everyone needs to buy a new graphic card to support this resolution. We're quite a few years away from that resolution being used by consumers I think.

It's also the case at larger resolutions (eg widths =>2048 pixels are not hardware accerleratable (if that is a word :)_________________ AmigaOS 4.x Beta Tester - Classic Amiga enthusiast - http://www.hd-zone.com is my Amiga Blog, check it out! |

How reliable is to make use of this on your drivers? Would be cool to be able to see blue-rays on Sam

Radeon HD 2400 does not decode AACS encryption.
Refer to Link AMD's Sempron 64 3000+ @1.6Ghz is not fast enough to decode AACS encryption.
SlySoft's AnyDVD HD (Wintel) can be use to remove AACS encryption.

Unlike NVIDIA's PureVideo2 and 3, AMD's UVD doesn't accelerate AACS decode. _________________ Ryzen 9 7900X, DDR5-6000 64 GB RAM, GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB Amiga 1200 (Rev 1D1, KS 3.2, PiStorm32lite/RPi 4B 4GB/Emu68) Amiga 500 (Rev 6A, KS 3.2, PiStorm/RPi 3a/Emu68) |

I would like to thank those who have signed up as beta testers already. Almost everyone has HD 2400 cards though, which is understandable since people are buying these cards new, and want to get the best that they can. However, I hope that I can get a few more X1000 series testers.
As for BluRay, etc., I'd like to be able to support HD video, but we'll have to see whether I can get my hands on the documentation for UVD. As others have already pointed out, the encryption schemes require quite a bit of processing power, and it's unlikely that we'll be able to afford the license fees. There may be ways around this though. In the meantime, I think that finished 2D support for R5xx and R6xx cards, and 3D support are more important.

| Everyone who signed up for beta testing should receive an email soon. However, my email server reported that two emails couldn't be delivered because it was unable to connect to the destination mail server. If you don't receive an email within the next day or two, please contact me.

| Most of you will probably have seen the news article several weeks back that exec.pl donated funds for an HIS Radeon HD 4350 PCI card. Well, I now have the HIS Radeon HD 4350 working with my driver. Thank you to everyone who donated.

| Compositing for R5xx chipsets is done. This is a big milestone since this means that R5xx based cards (i.e., Radeon X1000) series have full 2D hardware acceleration.
