Sounds like the show wasnt all that good this year. Maybe it wasnt such a bad thing not being able to make it after all. I havent heard any new or exciting details from it at all.

Typically these days, even with a shorter commute to Pianeta Amiga, at most...
maybe one person does a report that same day.
With most people travelling huge distances for Amiwest I would guess it will be some days before all reports are in.
Also, if you browse this thread, you will note the struggle with technical difficulties, which abound at that hotel.
Not the least of it was being thrown out of their display area and moved to another room because the hotel double booked.
All in all, this isn't like the days you remember in the past Acill.

Until show reports come in you might want to listen to:
http://www.amigaz.org/2009/10/18/art-episode-43-amiga-overload-audio

Plenty of show talk there (live) including a bit with AmigaDave.

@all

What was the level of attendance? And was it up or down from last year?

@fairlanefastback

According to AmigaDave on Amiga RoundTable, the attendance was down from last year. About 30 to 40.

@all

Show reports should start to appear later today or tomorrow.
They are being prepared.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank Bill (Tekmage) Bosari and the other "techs" for their perseverence in bringing us as much of the show as possible.

Technical difficulties are always a pain to deal with, Bill did himself proud.

Thanks to all involved in AmiWest for putting on yet another show, hopefully the attendance levels can start to climb.

@rigo

Thanks Rigo

@All

Sorry for the poor quality. The machine I had used for many years died and I had to use something new and due to work did not get a chance to test it well enough. Next year I'll get a better machine and try to spend more time getting it stable. Did anyone get a chance to see the Amiga 4.1 demonstration? I hope so cause it was nice.

Robert Bernardo filled everything interesting with his HD camera so, with luck, many of the presentations will show up online in the coming days and weeks. I've got some shots of the "game competion" put on by AmigaDave, Tim, Chris and Alan C. I had a ton of fun and will be posting the video in the next few days as well. Will also upload some photo's to the Amiwest.net site too.

Overall I'd say attendance was the same as last year and like last year there was a great buzz. I'd like to thank the attendees who showed up. Hats off the Goody for stepping up to help with the webcast when I got busy. BIG thanks goes out to Brian Deneen, who works very very hard to make Amiwest successful, and trust me when I say it's not been an easy year for him. Round of applause for Chuck and the SACC crew for putting in the effort every year to honor the Amiga and the community by inviting us to join them in this celebration.

Finally I'll toss props to Sellam Ismail of vintage.org for joining us at the banquet.

I hope everyone enjoyed the webcast of the show despite the issues we had.

See you next year!

The first video of Steven Solie making the Hyperion/Amiga, Inc settlement announcement and fielding questions is hopefully getting posted tonight.

@BillEMy ISP is something like that. I've got a 512k connection with unlimited bandwidth, I can get a fater connection, but with bandwidth limits, for less money.

At least you get a choice. I get 512k whatever bandwidth I choose

It costs the same whatever and I get no discounts unlike in their "low cost" areas that seem to get the full 8Mpbs service

In Rip Off Britain we always end up paying more for less.

Bloody BT.

Bill.

Given how much Hyperion managed to accomplish with AmigaOS while lawyers drained away already precious resources, you can imagine how much they will be able to accomplish now!

Gosh I hope so, that would be AWESOME.

@ssolie

Thanks for the synopsis!

I counted a few times during Saturday, and each time pretty exactly 40 people were in the room.

I made no attempt to keep track of whether those were the same 40 people each time, or whether there was coming and going, so take "40" as a lower bound. There wasn't a lot of traffic through the door, but there may have been some, so the actual number of attendees across the day may have been somewhat higher.

@umisef

I do know there were a handfull more ppl at the banquet this year, a small indication that attendence was up from last year. I think the club needs to have a guest list in future if the show continues to be free.
