We are in Amigaland is'nt we? We have somehow survived 16 years after Commodore's demise, and we have been let down a lot of times during all those years,so my bet is that we will survive if this announcement does'nt become a reality to,but it will be a major blow, that's for sure. Simply because this is the first time since pre commodore days, that we might have a "sane" management behind AmigaOS. Right now i am real positive about the situation we are in right now,and i belive most of us feel the same, this makes it even more important, that this x1000 thing become a reality.
As a true Amiga'n,i don't belive anything, before i can see and touch this x1000,not because i don't trust Hyperion or anything, but because of our past. _________________

I suppose you are quite impressed of the A1000,considering it came out in 1985,atleast i was, when i first saw it back in 85 I never had the honor of owning an A1000,my first Amiga was an A500 back in 87,and i loved Amiga ever since
And please take good care of your A1000,it's like owning a precious artifact, from a civilization long gone Last edited by Caveman on 06-Feb-2010 at 05:04 PM.

I have faith that the x1000 will come. And that's only because of hyperion. They deliver when others have just delivered empty words in the past. _________________ I'm an antique. Don't light my fuse |

I have no reason to think it won't happen, and in fact fully expect it to. Hyperion have so far delivered on their promises, although sometimes a little late (particularly when they were in a legal disagreement with Amiga Inc, which is of course no-longer an issue).

| I think the problem is that it was such a long time coming :- a new machine with amiga style abilities teased out in conjunction with our new trusted owner and for perhaps the first time a bit of a feel of let down an broken promise of further action. (and someone else said, we don't mean a new machine just a bit more info at least but ideally a formal announcement or website).
I'm surely not the only person who would have thought a formal website etc. Should have been already done so as ready to activate as soon as the teaser was ended?
So much hope that things are still going good for Hyperion and Aeon but as per other suggestions - the silence is scary. (not to mention amiga.com being down still haha)
Good luck.

Who cares?
he talked about a new website in a few days and today there is no website.
To explain this delay, you talk about the expedition....who cares!?!
Do you mean that A-eon, the new company behind the MAP, is something like a A*K? something like a one man company where a scratch on a finger can stop everything because "the man" can't press the mousebutton to send emails or upload a couple of webpages?
Of course I understand that A-eon is/could be a small company, but work/communicate in professional way is no related to size.
so, "to put me out from my misery", please elaborate your post.

Oh they did ?
Maybe you need to look more carefully then, cause with so much faith some people would still be waiting for Gorky 17, Majesty (and I could go on)...
And these were only game ports, not something that "ambitious" (tm)... keeping on promises for delivering a full computer seems quite more difficult to me.Last edited by Leo on 06-Feb-2010 at 06:40 PM. Last edited by Leo on 06-Feb-2010 at 06:40 PM.

| @MacSociety What applications are you running on all those machines? What made you decide to go retro when you've been running OS X on a state of the art system?
I love the Amiga and I've been an addict since 1985, but I can't imagine daily computing with any of my systems (A1000, 4000, 4000T).
BTW, your Twitter post yesterday got me itching to pick up an A500 to get closer to rounding out my collection. Back when I used the Amiga full-time, the A2000 was the system that I used the longest.

I got my Amiga 1000 in late October, 1985. It was among the first systems sold in Miami. It was awesome and felt like alien technology. I loved showing it off to anyone who visited my apartment.

| Hey IslandDreamer. Thanks for keeping up with my Amiga hype over on Twitter.
My company, MacSociety, provide Sales & Technical Support for the Mac platform. I am a POS (Point Of Sale) Specialist and install iMacs at retail stores as POS system. Kind of unique seeing Macs up front and center at retail stores. Anyway, I remote into clients systems to provide support and use Skype to keep my phone costs down. So, day to day, I am on Skype via my Macs, use Timbuktu for remote access and file transfers with clients, and then all the other day to day apps like MS Office, iChat, emal, web browsing, etc... The POS software I am a VAR for is called Posim and is both on Mac OS X and PC. So, I do a lot of tech support on the Posim app. I use OS X apps also like Pages, Keynote, etc... Great experience and I love Macs.
But..... at this stage of my life I want to rekindle the computing spirit I had from the 70s/80s/and even 90s. Back then updates and new product seemed so much greater than what I see today. Not in terms of horse-power but newness I guess. Everything seemed new and fresh and it was like seeing computing from a virgins eyes. When today, we expect certain updates and it is just not the same. So, I almost kind of like the teasing and waiting aspect of the older platforms. Seemed like it would take years for something to happen but when it did, wham, was it great!
Anyway, I am just stepping back from sheer horsepower and looking for simpler times in computing again. Maybe because my wife and I just had to put one 5 month year old kitty to rest 2 weeks ago (disease that was contagious) and another, our oldest 10 to 14 year old, just last night at midnight. Things like this make me step back and remember the good old days and I think the Amiga platform out of all the oldies is the one that is just modern enough to actually allow me to get work done yet give me that old time fun I crave.
So, that is my Amiga story at the moment. Hopefully it will be the same from today at 43 until the end of days.
I will still be using Macs since it is my profession but I will be diving into the land of Amiga also. And, you never know, maybe one day if Amiga gets back into the business game, I can join in that also.
tj

Ever go to a doctors office and they tell you the doctor will just be a few more minutes. Same thing here... Few minutes means more like 30 minutes so it will happen, just in the good doctors time is all.

Among excuses that's definitely up there with the best of them! lol
I'm still not clear why a simple landing page wasn't created with a short description of the company and contact information. It's hard to imagine the effort that was invested in an elaborate puzzle but no thought was given to legitimizing the business opportunity.
