No, just advertise material... complete GIS App needs a heavy mapping machine to make maps all over the world seamless and to reference between different Geogrids etc... this is a heavy task, and I doupt wether this could be implemented by hollywood... I work with a GIS called "RegioGraph" check this one here:

Well just continue developing your apps for normal computers, AmigaOS, MorphOS, etc., etc., by using Hollywood.

I hope yout program will run flawlessly on these platforms with the aid of strong compiling features of Hollywood.

But then... If an Hollywood application could be ported to Iphone, will be a matter of future, not present time.

As for now running Hollywood apps on IPhone it is just pure speculation.

And create new compiling facilities for Hollywood to run applications on different machines stands just in the effort of Andreas, not in yours...

@Templario

Totally agree with you!

@All
for who is interested here is a link that shows the latest progresses in ScuiLib: DropDown menus and support for images in buttons, switches and labels.
DropDown menus actually supports:
- items
- switches
- options
- labels
- submenus (unlimited levels)
In the next days I'll add the support for images since this is already implemented for standard gagdets.

I hope to have the time to write down some documentation and a couple of examples then I'll release the package.

The gui in the video if just a test nothing special, but demonstrate that is working :)

@Allanon

I agree with you and Templario aswell.

A Hollywood portal / forum would be a great way to discuss coding and ongoing projects. Im pretty sure we will get one eventually. It is also great that there is such a high activity on the Hollywood-mailinglist. I belive we can expect alot of cool stuff from the users in the future :)

Regarding Scuilib :

Very cool youtube-file.. It looks really great! It is amazing how you have made this using Hollywood. Great job!!

Best regards
Torgeir

@all

I see many people saying they will buy Hollywood once feature "X" is implented.

I wish people instead would keep focus on what Hollywood actually offers today! The list of features is both amazing and impressive! Andres Falkenhahn is one of the last commercial developers left in the amigascene. If we want the amigacommunity to grow we need to show our support to developers like Andreas and others.

Instead of waiting to buy Hollywood until feature "X" is implented, i wish people would get it sooner. All commercial developers needs customers in order to continue releasing new versions and updates. Hollywood + Designer is really something we cannot afford to loose!

Im confident that Andreas has got a nice plan when it comes to future features in both Hollywood and Designer. With every new release he manages to come up with tons of new cool stuff. It is not often we are treated with a software-package of this quality, and it is even native on both OS4 and MorphOS! :)

best regards
Torgeir Vee

Hello!

I'm working on LookHere! and ScuiLib, the library I'm developing to allow Hollywood users to build GUIs for their applications.

Right now I've added support for images in the buttons, switches and labels. Next steps are:
- Pop-up & Drop Down menus
- Contextual menus

As soon as I will find some time to write the docs I'll release the library.

In the near future I've planned to improve LookHere! especially adding the exif data reading, but I've 3 more application in development:
- An application launcher
- A volume monitor
- A top secret HUGE app :)

Happy coding!

I just tried version 2.0 of look here and I must say I am impressed !!!
simple and powerfull, scanning 100 photos and generating thumbnails nearly on the fly, nice transition effects (Hollywood rulez) allbeit not always smooth on my A1G4, preferences window !
A really nice application, and I urge everyone to try it, thank you

(added some snapshots to os4depot )

EDIT: BTW LoView is another nice picture viewers (made with Hollywood too ?), simpler but still with options (scale, rotate, save) available right away from the taskbar, big thank to Tuxedo

www.geobiz.de/download.htm

There is also a MAC Version under testing at them moment...

I hope that Hollywood will get some platform independant font rendering. I couldn't get the simple standard font I used in my game to open on Windows. I finally gave up and made a png for every letter that I can build together in the game. Awful! But at least it looks exactly the same on every platform

@fuskoSCN
I have an old (v1.x)version of Hollywood that I unfortunately never got around to use.
At last weekends Amiga meeting in Denmark we had a presentation of Hollywood and was shown a game made in Hollywood (Thanks Alfkil!) and now I'm really eager to get the new version.

Unfortunately I am without job(again!) from tomorrow so I don't think the finances allows a purchase right now. It really sucks as I was very happy with my apprenticeship as an electrician but since it is in a small company that has zero work atm. I'm out after only 3 months. Finding a new apprenticeship is next to impossible so that's another 10 months wasted

Maybe I should ask my GF if she wants to buy me Hollywood as a gift

Japairs is a nice idea :) Thanks for showing it to me! :)

Have you upgraded to Hollywood 4.5 ? Andreas made it possible to add truetype-fonts linked inside the executable - so it should not be a problems with fonts once you start using v. 4.5

I used the same method (.png-files for text) in the early version of Dental Info.. but it was a mess to maintain compared to now that I can use text-objects :)

Keep up the good work! :)

@Troels

Im sorry to hear that you lost your job! Hopefully you will get a new one soon!

You have done great job supporting the amiga-community - send me a PM if you ever decide to upgrade Hollywood and I will donate 20 Euros of the upgrade-fee. Not much but hopefully it will help a little bit!

Best regards

@fuskoSCN
Thats VERY kind of you but I don't need that, will manage to upgrade my Hollywood one way or another soon.

Regarding job it's a tough one atm. I lost my job through 9 years a year ago and wanted to change to become an electrician. Got an agreement on apprenticeship and started in 6 months school. After school was finished the company didn't want to hire anyone so I had to spend a month looking for another place which I found by pure luck. But after 3 months there he can't afford to have me hired so I was laid off together with another guy (only 3 people left in the company).

Like everywhere else job situation suck around here, but at least I will have plenty of time to fix my own house and use my A1;)

@Troels

Well, the offer still stands! It is also still valid whenever you decide to upgrade.

My reasons to offer this is the following :

1) Andreas gets another customer
2) You can get the new version a little bit sooner
3) The amiga-community gets new software if you ever decide to make anything using Hollywood :)

The new list of new features is amazing compared to your old version. You will be very satisfied with Hollywood 4.5 for sure :)

Torgeir :)

Yes, i have upgraded. Other than trying if my old programs work with the new version (they do), I've had no time yet to look into the new features. But I think I will leave the current text rendering mechanism for Japairs as it is now as long as I don't add any more text somewhere else. It works as it is now, so why change a running system?
For new programs and for new texts inside Japairs, I will of course look into the new font linking feature of Hollywood 4.5.

Agree. What for a separate forum if we have such a nice site for general amiga programming like utilitybase.com is?
