Boing balls require licensing from Hyperion. I doubt it would make sense for a limited production of hand built machines.

If you ask Amigakit they may be happy to sell you some of their stickers. Acube sell A key stickers, but if Loriano can get these silk screened it will look better.

@TheDaddy

I'm also going to be custom fabricating my own sam460ex casework... however I am not using metals
and I will be directly "printing" from a 3D layout model...

I will NOT be competing with your own product as I will be doing a customized Micro-Tower casework
specific to the sam460ex with my own selection of extensions.

I hope to be able to present this to the community as yet another choice to be available.

I will be using a Home-Built "Prusa Mendel" RepRap [Replicating Rapid-prototyping 3D Printer]
for fabrication...

Would this help with creation of custom printed Keycaps (including direct plastic writing of the symbols)??

I also have a couple of other ideas we can possibly work together on...
if you want to produce the 3D models and I will print the parts?

>>Will it come with the boing ball on the Amiga keys?

I was thinking of having the two "A" printed...

>>How much assembly will be needed?

Not much, I'll assemble them one by one myself, including the DVD-RW drive and the keyboard all you have to do is put the motherboard, your graphics card (it has to have a low profile bracket), your picoPSU and your HD or SSD (2.5" drive) and you are done.

As Rob says:

>>Boing balls require licensing from Hyperion. I doubt it would make sense for a limited production of hand built machines.

BUT if people want the boing ball printed anywhere you can have it, I have already spoken to Hyperion about it and it can be done, just let me know

>>If you ask Amigakit they may be happy to sell you some of their stickers. Acube sell A key stickers, but if Loriano can get these silk screened it will look better.

exactly or I can get the A silk screened if people want that, it will al depend on how many people order a case, for 10 cases it won't be cost effective for example.

That sounds interesting, the black key caps with the symbols on would be great if means keeping the cost down.

That sounds good, could you send me an email?

Just a quick updated:

Changed the round nose (towards the end of the keyboard) for a corner one, because of production costs but, to me, it looks even better, following the clean lines of the rest, it also makes the case slightly shorter.

On top of this Amiganews.it member Alblino has already started modifying the X500 PLUS and give a representation of possible colours, have a look at the white version:

Here

@1Mouse

Not yet...soon hopefully.

>> I am a fan of aluminium cases, Lian Li and Antec are my favourite manufacturers and it's so light, weight of the case at around 2kg without brackets and other bits...

I am also a big fan of alu cases. My SAM440733Flex is built in into a LianLi V531R case and my SAM440epMini is in a small Silversone Petit PT-09S with pico PSU. Especially the Silverstone cased SAM has a quiet light weight. :)

@Deschain

Exactly, Lian Li are probably the best manufacturer of aluminium cases although their cases are quite expensive but great quality nonetheless.

Just so that it's clear:

Over at amiga.org I replied to someone who kept saying to put the UNIVAC logo on the case by saying: ""No, but I can put an Amiga logo on it..."

I have just been contacted by Barry of CommodoreUSA who is reminding me that the Amiga name and logo are licensed to CommodoreUSA.

So I want it to make it clear that if something requires permission, permission will be asked.

Getting a few emails regarding the price...

How much would you be prepared to pay?

Better to know now.

@TheDaddy

Well, if this current project is a success maybe a laptop would be the ideal next step... I know a lot of people have been asking for a AOS laptop and maybe you could even get A-eon's/Hyperion's blessing on the naming/branding. Allthoough price would probably be pretty steep...
What's the power consumption of the Sam440/460?
