@freeaks

Steven Solie is now the Team leader and communication has improved whit regular updates on Hyperion blog.

http://blog.hyperion-entertainment.biz/

I don’t think its Hyperion’s job to inform customers on behalf of A-EON.

@freeaks

There is difference between being critical, rating or simply trolling, most people that get 10 day ban deserves it. (never me )

@NutsAboutAmiga

solie didn't improve communication one bit yet.
only thing he said was to ask for more betatester (payer)
he haven't revealed anything related to os4 current status and advances and nothing..
do you know what os4.1update3 will contains ? no.
when will it comes ? no .
what about the plans for overhauling the workbench?
what about galium3d port progress and status ? nothing is known
what components of the OS got updated, (there's a lot of components to speak of) how it was updated and why this will be better
and etc and etc ......

users are kept in the dark. communication is bad.
os is bad (reason: outdated)
hardware is bad (reason: outdated)

good communication could balance these problem of being outdated on all fronts, if users would know about what's going on behind the scene. that would give users real reason to wait and stick with amiga cause they'd know what's coming..
but here it's the opposite.

in addition to bad OS and bad hardware we have bad communication too .
bravo ..

@freeaks

Its extremely hard to estimate how long things will take; tiny bug can be causing unbelievable behavior.

We know what they are working on:

USB2
Gallium3D
AmigaOne-X1000 (stuff, pci-express)
TimberWolf
Reaction
CrossDOS

And we know what they have just finished whit.

AmigaOS4.1 for classic.

@freeaks
There is way and way to expose ones thoughts. You are doing it the Wrong way.
Critics are very welcome but need decency, form, and a certain level of education on the subjects at hand.
Simply ranting like a rabid animal won't help out communication, nor your relationships with a group of people that share your very same passion.

@freeaks

Hyperion did not ask for beta tester they asked for more developers, this should also speed things up.

I hope you have some evidence to back up those 'facts'...
If your not interested in the product why post in a forums about it?

Have you actually seen an Amiga Inc product? I saw the X1000 as the VCF last year and it exists! That puts A-EON leagues ahead of the venture capital tax haven shell of a company that is Amiga Inc.

Apparently, the last unconfirmed report on the X1000 sighting comes from Las Vegas.

A group of Austrian tourists has been reported to have seen Elvis himself leaving one of the casinos in a good mood. He was reported to be carrying a large black box with , I quote, "a funny looking sphere in the front" and wearing a T-Shirt with "When it's done™" written on it's front side. Several witnesses also report that he was heard whistling Suspicious minds along as he was getting into his car, Nevada license plates "PA6TXena". The Las Vegas police has declined to comment on the validity of the license plates, citing NDA reasons.

i wouldn't go as far as to say that... ainc did nothing. hyperion does.

but surely communication isn't good.
and progress pace is quite slow.

combine thoses two and you get upset users.
this won't get any better until one of those or both will change.

now you can try to put topping, cream, cherry and sugar on top of it,
it won't change the nature of the problems that made users upset.

it was lies

Rather rude and over the top see Here

Quote:
A lie (also called prevarication, falsehood) is a type of deception in the form of an untruthful statement, especially with the intention to deceive others.

To lie is to state something with disregard to the truth with the intention that people will accept the statement as truth.

A liar is a person who is lying, who has previously lied, or who tends by nature to lie repeatedly - even when not necessary.

Lying is typically used to refer to deceptions in oral or written communication. Other forms of deception, such as disguises or forgeries, are generally not considered lies, though the underlying intent may be the same. However, even a true statement can be used to deceive. In this situation, it is the intent of being overall untruthful rather than the truthfulness of any individual statement that is considered the lie. As in the boy who cried wolf.

Please use language appropriate to the discussion!!!!!!

Where the @#&@(!& is "X" ???

I don't know. Probably not ready yet.

Yes. I'm also itchy to have X sitting on my desk. Especially since Acube
released the FPGA info for Sam. My my, what a neat accessory a Sam might be
for the X1000. Now lets see.......................hmmmmm

And best of all......they're both PPC

Where is X?

Well everything seems to be panning out nicely in my eyes...

AmigaOS Classic is out.

Timberwolf is nearly ready ("Coming early summer")

Someone said Update 3 is "coming in 3 months" - 1 1/2 months of which have passed already

Renamed OWB is due for release with Update 3....

Gallium is underway, hey perhaps they plan to upgrade the graphics card in this new Amiga as well - is it possible to port Gallium by say August? xD

And personally I wait for Audio and 3D Hardware Composition for SAM 460 - this summer should be a belter - at least the weather sure is!

I 'd love to write "I can't tell 'cause I am under NDA" but right now it's "I can't tell 'cause I know sh!#". Nevermind, we need a new OS more than we need new hardware. We spent a decade arguing about the hardware and staying legacy instead of modernising AmigaOS with both essential developer frameworks and end-user functionality.

Syllable? Or Haiku? Both influenced/inspired by Amiga OS, but more modern. What happened with Haiku's PPC port? Is it still on?

On Yahoo AmigaONE group wich anyone can join a new picture shows Thermal testing of the hardware,
link
"Thermal images taken by Varisys of revison 2 Nemo motherboard with both cores running at 1.8GHz while hammering the network (under Linux)."

The xcore runs hotter than the PPC chip!

Plus some of the details I read in Amiga Future gave me some hope that the project should be successful, but my guess you guy dont buy much amiga related stuff or attend amiga shows any more, it amazes me that some people still think it doesn't exist even tough it was demoed at three different Amiga shows. Plus why do people keep saying its 2 years ago, it was announced January 2010, I think the only big mistake they made was saying Summer 2010 but then in the adverts and promotion they did only promise Contact for 2010 and we did make contact. Hopefully Beta Testing will start soon and I expect the next big X1000 update to be at Amiwest in October.

I guess the real question is, by the time it is released, how many people will still care?

And I the answer will be......far fewer than if they'd released in last year or whenever it was originally meant to ship (I forget now).

I have read the comments on this thread and I have to say Opi speaks the might amount sense. You nextgen users/wannabe users really do nothing for your blood pressure. Be a classic user like me - everything has been released, base hardware and all software is available in its abundance and there are more peripherals and knowledge than you can shake a stick at.

What's more the classic stuff is stable and as much relevance in mainstream computing than your thousand dollar PPC rubbish (i.e. none). 68k all the way baby!
