This Natami looks really promising.

@AmigaBlitter

Lets see when the product is ready, and you need to remember that AmigaONE-XE has SDRAM while NatAmi has DDR RAM.

Its 1 out of 3 test.

So what about ALU tests.

FPU test ?
Int test ?

@AmigaBlitter

I think it is obvious that good use of faster memory (Natami, DDR2) gives better results than bad use of slower memory (AmigaOne, SDRAM).

Gunnar“s choice of benchmarks is rather selective, I hope Natami Team will show something more useful - like ffmpeg, lame, raytracing or 3D games (Doom, Quake).

The system is not tuned at the moment

Seems promising.
If you could attach a PPC chip via expansion card...

@AmigaBlitter

Is anyone on the Natami team interested in ever trying to run AmigaOS4.x on a Natami system?

Noone that I know of.
The Natami Team stands 100% behind AmigaOS3 and AROS. These are the systems that will be able to run on our Amiga-compatible platform, and which we base our roadmap on.

Hyperion has not shown the least interest in Natami.
Besides, the OS4 people already have their SAM and X1000 platforms praised by the OS4 community as the future of their take on the Amiga. We do not aim to interfere with them.

And let's not forget that Natami is the perfect replacement for the antique classic Amiga Hardware and a major upgrade too
And it fits in a tiny housing so you can take it in A600 style everywhere in an backpack

But wasn't there talk about a 'maybe possible ppc card for natami' ?

I don't think it will happen.

Making an PPC card would be relatively easy for a good engineer, the problem left is getting MOS or AOS4 running on it. Somehow I doubt that either Hyperion or MOS team would do a port for it. That's why I think a better bet would be an x86 card if you want a card to run.

The best part is now they are getting ready to assemble more boards for the rest of the team so that all the drivers can be written.

I'm thinking they are pushing the '060 now to get a reference for what the coders will be able to do with the consumer board running the '050. The '050 should be even faster.

Sad. There are no common goals in the Amiga community. It's a car with many steering wheel, where the occupants drive to their own direction.

There is a difference between what you can do with your own car vs a rental.
(think about it)

@AmigaBlitter

i dont think there is a reason to complain. on the contrary the situation is quite good. there is four main (partly intersecting or interconnected) interest groups in post amiga community, these are: 68k, os4, mos and aros. every group gets its dedicated treatment, and funny enough the users of each group are usually most satisfied with their choice, and how they are treated. the differences between the groups reflect practically every pov a user might have on amiga so the available choice saturates the community very well. and last but not leas in case some of these groups should suffer severe missfortune, you can always switch to the remaining most related alternative.

of course more cooperation would be welcome, as it was discussed for years, but on the other hand we need also some amount of competition to keep the scene alive, so maybe its just about right.

Not the Natami Team directly but some fan(anitc)s like Atheist are convinced, Hyperion will port AOS4 to Natami 68k and they will sell millions of it when it is packed into an A1200 Funtasy case.

Yeah, one guy heads for the rollercoasters, one for the hotdogs and one for the hotel. If they worked together they`d be heading for Disneyland!

@Frags

It needs a PowerPC chip of any kind, then you can talke to Hyperion about it.

K6-2 is several generations behind the current PC tech.
