Everything should be rather clear now for the coming time.

I don't think the situation is that harsh, they might not go out of their way as to purchase additional HW (for how cheap it might be) just to "try out", but if the time-demo would be available on Sams they would give it a go guaranteed, and once that is done the next step (registration) wouldn't be very hard

In an Italian forum, m3x from Acube said "more than 500 less than 2000" (how much more than 500 remains to be seen), moreover their last Uboot update was downloaded almost 600 times (just for 440s and excluding 460s). One might argue that a few have downloaded the file twice, but I know many haven't downloaded it at all, so it should compensate.

This is interesting... Say, 570 SAM440s and 160 SAM460s (judging from 187 downloads of SAM460 audio driver on os4depot). That's quite a number (considering that so far we have circa 1200 registrations of MorphOS 2.x on all supported platforms).

SAM440 is discontinued and with only ~500 potential machines to install MorphOS it makes no sense to support it.

First of all, SAM 440 is avail and supported, so no reason to call it "discontinued" at all (again, where do you get that ideas?) Only real problem is that it does not hold that much value since SAM 460 holds better performance at not so higher price (even people do complain on SAM 460 / AmigaOne X500 prices, SAM 440 prices should be dropped down to create new base platform).

500 machines is quite nice for NG Amiga volumes - it`s not much but let me guess that it is something that is worth supporting. Do you really expect that support for certain Mac model will bring 300+ new MOS licences in first few months? But by providing support you make the it possible in time.

500 machines which would be very fertile toward an Amiga-like OS specially if it ends-up squeezing all their potential.
The 440Flex isn't discontinued by the way, and it's avaialble at some retailers (such as RELEC).

AFAIR Genesi bankrolled that port. I'd be willing to bet the MOS team would be open to Acube bankrolling a MOS port to the SAM board.

1 Macmini that broke down. Ihave then bought 7 reg could one then devide the 1200 by 7
like 170 reg users?

In 2008 MorphOS didnt support Mac platform and Genesi funded Efika port.

ACube wont be making new batches of SAM440 anymore. They are only concentrating on SAM460 and AmigaOne 500.

Those 500 SAM440 boards wont translate to 500 potential users. MorphOS hardware is so cheap they would be using MorphOS already if they really wanted to.

Hmm, so why would I want to run MOS or god forbid AROS on my Sam when I have the GENUINE Amiga OS (thats Amiga OS 4.1) already on there? It seems a bit pointless to me...
