That confirms previous tests - around 1.5 GHz G4 in Blender benchmark.

However, it seems that results have greater variations even with the same version of Blender...

Wazp3D with compositing is great step forward for A1-500/X1000 users. Full 3D support will be of course even better.

@kas1e

in this case i would remove and backup warp3dppc.library as well, since it isnt going to work without dedicated hardware anyway and might only lead to crashes where hardware acceleration is not available. especially that i wouldnt expect that newer gfx cards will ever become own warp3d driver. if i was in charge, the new cards would get a completely new full and not backwards compatible opengl solution based on current gallium-mesa. old warp3d legacy software could be further used with wazp which might eventually get a backend translating the calls to mesa calls, as it is already the case under winuae, where afaik wazp3d can utilize direct3d of the host system (look up wazp3d.library-winuae, soft3d.library, soft3d.dll).

You can test the install by going to Prefs/ScreenBlanker & select the BoingBall, if it works, you're good.

Tried your script and it opens on wb screen. Should it open on own ? Still crashes. I did render a boingball and when it was finished i pressed on the quit gadget and when the rendered window dissapeared .... crash.

@Tuxedo

I dont know what to type but i tried this line....

Work:Graphics/blender> bldyn -b test.blend -o /tmp -f 1
Blender is here Work:Graphics/blender/bldyn
Initialised blenderpluginapi.library

@Kicko

as suspected there is some little gain likely due to rendering output, which might be especially slow on wazp. overall though the result remains in within the same ligue.

making another bet, id expect about the same result on linux, i dont think blender does a lot of os calls after the scene is loaded, except if the memory handling was somehow screwed, which i dont think it is.

If linux supports the two cores on X1000 then it'll likely blend faster.

@Kicko

My script is for starting blender from its WB icon, the non-gui render time won't be any faster, I also have the stack set to 2,000,000, it opens on its own screen. I also don't have the Wazp prefs installed.

Try this in a shell:

bldyn -b test.blend -o ram:test -F JPEG -f 0

I get 6:53 min with the GUI & 6:53 min in a shell, no crash.

@Thread

And you all went off tocic.

Wazp3D won't speed up Blender rendering when used in CLI. So these tests have nothing to do with Wazp3D.

I you want to test Wazp3D, use WarpView, GlQuake, PrBoomGL, BlenderGUI, IoQuake3, etc...

Nah, there no reassons to worry about warp3dppc.library at all, because if you don't use warpos apps (which no one use on os4 anyway), then nothing open library. All of os4 users keep it unchanged, and it make no sense to worry about at all.

Quote:

Winuae there is bad example, as its have dll kind code, have worry with win32 apis and co, while good example is aros, where wrapper to mesa already done, and all of this should be kind of trivial to port to os4 when gallium/mesa will be done.

Yes, i know that stuff because i help Alain with it myself, and annoy him 1-2 years ago to do it firstly for winuae, then for aros. At some stage we got sources of quarktex (old winuae warp3d HW based wrapper, with lot of limitations), and with bases on it he do everything better.

But in terms of aos4, there is aros wrapper for mesa make more sense in end.

@fred

Anyone tried Nexuiz yet with this new Warp lib or perhaps SuperTuxKart?

http://www.amigaos.net/software/42/nexuiz

Edit: Answered my own question, SuperTuxKart is unplayable, Nexuiz taking forever to download. ^.^

You do everything right. You just keep warp3dppc.library untouched, save original warp3d.library somthere, and copy/rename alain's wazp3d.library-ppc to warp3d.library. Then reboot, go to prefs:settings, run wazp3d-prefs, choice compositing in the render method and so on.

That is what I have done. I cannot find wazp3D-prefs anywhere, where is it?

UPDATE:

Just realised I didn't install prefs program doh!

Have installed PPC pref program and renamed it Warp3d

I have selected +Renderer to Compositing2D but whenever I reeboot it goes back to original setting, how do I save the setting?

Are there any other settings I need to set?

I did that and it works fine, if a bit slow! But cannot find wazp3D-prefs anywhere!

You can't, if you reboot you will lost all settings, current WaZp3D prefs cannot be saved at the moment, so just tick the option you want, close the prefs window and play with it

More likely the other way arround, default is threaded using maximim available threads,

Still worth trying both

In the blender Help menu the last entry is system from there you can choose benchmark or system info.

Benchmark offers the option to test draw speed etc.

Thanks a lot for this update! With the composite setting enabled the installed 3D apps and games are really useable!
Of course everything is not perfect (commonly wrong colors) but now at least I can try out something more.

Did anybody had any luck trying the QT demos?
I get a visit of the Grim reaper any time I try any of them here on my Sam460...

If you have wrong colors with wazp3d, try to play with Hack Text options (set it to NO: Safe). By that way i fix wrong colors in few games.

Better wait for next releas of QT (alfkil already remove opengl dependeces, and rewrite everything on native stuff, with usage of compositing as well).
