@AlicePPC
What news? AFAIK the third batch is already being assembled/delivered. Up to now there are no plans for any batch after this current third batch.

I think the lates info (from amigakit) is that if demand remains, x1000 production will continue.

(I imagine the price might rice anyway, as PA6T becomes more rare and expensive.)

Interesting though that x1000 is not listed as a product they sell on their catalog. Only on separate page & "last updated on August 14 2012".

@Spectre660

Thanks for mem refresh. I forgot that.

So once the ongoing production run/batch is sent out they do not plan to produce further.

from amigakit:
"There will more developments from A-EON in the future to address the supply contraints of AmigaOS 4 hardware"

So, x1000 will have little and big sisters to fill the demand.
(potentially first the non altivec 4core system @1.5Ghz)

But I predict those productions will be held back untill AOS4 can use multiple cores.

@KimmoK

I think that a new dualcore model could be sold with AmigaOS4.1 once Warp3D for Radeon HD graphics cards and some sort of video playback assistance using Radeon HD GPU's are in place.

I've been wanting one of them for ages. If and by the time we ever get one we will be laughed at because every other platform will have moved on and left them behind.

Sigh...

All X1000 are sold out. If you are on the list we will contact you and invite you to check out with the X1000. The X1000 is only available to customers who have requested to buy last year up to the batch limit.

So there's no chance of an official LAUNCH PARTY with a fanfare & press coverage then? The VCF showing doesn't count because they weren't taking orders at that point. I am not in the habit of emailing begging letters to Amigakit to be given a chance at purchasing a X1000! It's all a bit like applying for the Wimbledon Tennis Public Ballot for the chance to buy Wimbledon Tennis tickets

At least Apple have promised a refresh of the Mac Pro this year. A computer that will be cheaper than the X1000, has thunderbolt ports and USB 3.0 as standard and most importantly can be ordered with a 'Buy Now' button

What happened to the "as long as there is demand," strategy Trevor talked about at the AmiWest Amiga Computer Show in Sacramento last year?

>very much efford for create a new amigaos versions only for a few hundred of users...?

I guess there was not that many options as high end PPC building blocks and they wanted to have modern chip for SMP and PCIe developments. I think development goals are met with current x1000 design & plan.
I think x1000 was never planned to be a mass product, but the production anyway proved to be slower and more difficult than originally planned.
etc.

Surely A-Eon learnt a lot from x1000. And hopefully AOS4 also benefitted from the project, somehow.

>And now waiting again for another new amigaos 4.2 hardware?

ACube products remain available and cost less than half of the x1000 price.

I don't think Trevor was planning for the price of the CPU to treble....

@Thread

Good grief! Here we go again rehashing the same old story. I can't believe there is anyone left on this site who does not already know the what, why, and how of the X1000 building and sales story.

Amigkit is not in the business of trying to make it difficult for anyone who wanted an X1000 to acquire one. Just drop that damn complaint now! Anyone who wanted and could afford an X1000 had a path to get one. Don't come bitching and crying now and blaming Amigakit for your failure to act. Amigakit could only afford to build X1000s for the people who voiced an interest and later ordered one when sent the order page. No one has the funds to build hundreds of X1000s and store them in a warehouse hopefully waiting for someone to order one.

I let the first X1000 recruitment pass and regretted it, but unlike some of you I did not blame Amigakit that I did not send them my letter of interest. That was my failure!

When the 2nd recruitment came I sent in my letter of interest and waited. Some months went by and I received an email from Amigakit asking me to order my X1000 if I was still interested. If not, they would pass my place in line on to the next in line. Any of you (who had the funds) could also have done so. If you did not have the funds, that is your own personal business. It is not Amigakit's fault!

I know the price is high, but that is the facts of providing for our small community.

Then suddenly the price of the CPU went up tremendously. That is not Amigakit's fault! Amigakit is not pricing anyone out of the X1000.

If anyone wants to run OS4 there are still other models available to do so.

So, please give this rehashing of the X1000 ordering a rest! It is really getting old!

Yup well said.
If you wanted an X1000 then you should have ordered one. But I understand you we're all waiting for the 50% off sale?

@Kicko, how goes it with your X1000?

@Hondo

The CPU is not in production atm, and if/when it is, it's in small batches for known customers. I'm guessing there are simply not many PA6T CPUs out there and that's what's driving the price up.
It has been a bad decision from the start to use such a rare chip.
