Well done!

Why icons have border? These would look better boderless. Other than that, another nice step forward.

Excuse if I am wrong but the screenshot at post 1 shows copyrighted icons. I assume correct permissions and licenses have been obtained to embed in the OS or otherwise stored and accessed.

@djrikki

I HAVE the permission to use the icons!

Why asking? Are you owner or delegated to defend the rights of this person in some way?

Another small feature. You can convert IFF 24bit in 8bit by rightclick on icon, then select the option and then select new file

screenshot below (right source file, left 8bit converted file). It is simple to define in file type. Magellan is really a good desktop

Glad youre enjoying yourself, but whats with the downscaling color results? It looks like 16 colors, not 256 :)

One step further... I use own developed small Hollywood programs (CLI) for showing picture, play videos, ANIMs and Music. Example here is AVI playing after doubleclick. I can support everything now that is supported by Hollywood. Quiet a lot

That is looking really good!
Open-sourcing Magellan is looking to be really good for AROS.

@OlafS25

One small news. Yesterday I have successfully added AREXX support (Regina). My version of Magellan seems to have a issue with REXXMAST (Error at startup) but works. So I will keep both (and hopefully can solve that in future version(s) )

I hope to upload new version next week (final testing this weekend)

And please use white fonts with black shadow effect for icon texts :) You can change it from Environment -> Icon Display settings. I can't stand those rectangles behind text... yuck.

@OlafS25

Thanks for keeping us updated, for me the code release of Magellan is one of the most exiting things to happen in Amiga software since mySQL was ported to OS4.

I will be looking forward to using it under AROS, OS4 and 68k (possible even under AROS-68k) in the future.

Corrected

I am preparing the update for next week (lots of fun ). A screenshot showing some features. On the right a freeware clipboard manager. On the middle a picture "on the desktop" and not by leave-out. You can simply draganddrop any files on the desktop that can be still opened and so on.

Further improvements:
AREXX files can be execute by "right mouse" and selecting a menu
With CTRL-C and CTRL-V you can select and copy files like on Windows
Files can be copied by draganddrop (standard behavior)

@OlafS25

i think your distribution need some graphical consistency. alas i still cannot decide under which angle to proceed.

practically seen the icons i think the desktop should be light grey as amiga/early mac. lets say silver gradient is a good start.
now icons: i guess completely new approach must be taken, due to licensing problems (i would ilicense these icons aros/lgpl, is that the best?) but also to particular advantages/disandvantages of available sets/standards.

i would like the icons to be crispy (not blurred) even if this means less colors. a palette of 256 might even be enough, look ok on truecolor and scale down well to black and white.

the problem is to take all these things in consideration before one starts. for instance newicons and aros icons look well on interlaced screens, newicons since most of the lines are diagonal, aros because it has thick edges. i m not sure if i prefer diagonal layout, so aesthetics close to aros but not so kitchy could be the best choice.
