I think I'll try to work around this with ARexx.
While I'm at it, is there a place I could suggest more commands/options for OWB/Odyssey's ARexx port ? Is there a dedicated forum to discuss this ?

We have on amigans.net sub-forum for odyssey, but probably the only one person who will be able to expand arexx port its Fab. If of course it did't have everything you need already. From readme:

Quote:

- REXX port
PRINT
ABOUT
OPEN NAME/K,NEWPAGE/S,BACKGROUND/S,SOURCE/S
RELOAD
BACK
FORWARD
SAVEURL URL/A,AS/K
ADDBOOKMARK TITLE/A,URL/A,ALIAS/K,MENU/S,QUICKLINK/S
GETURL
GETTITLE
SELECTEDTEXT
FULLSCREEN

Anyway, as we found openurl support was broken in os4build , so only default URLOpen works (where all protocols works, but mailto didn't). Now i fix it, and openurl will works now. But that only important for mailto: thing anyway, all other stuff works as before with inbuild urlopen.

@Djrikky
URLOpen do not have arexx support, so you can't supply arexx commands to it, and so with URLOpen you always will have open new instanses of browsers (and that for all browsers, and old owb, and netsurf and odysey). For netsurf chris make a workoround : he create an rexx script, and insetad of "appdir:netsurf" in the prefs:url , he add "rexx:netsurf" , which handle rexx port and do what should do.

The same by logic you can do for odyssey now then. Just go let's say to http, and instead of "appdir:odyssey" type here "rexx:odyssey", and put that script to rexx (name it odyssey, of course):

Quote:

options results
parse arg url

if lastpos("ODYSSEY", SHOW(PORTS)) > 0 then do
address ODYSSEY.1
OPEN NAME url NEWPAGE
end
else do
address command 'APPDIR:Odyssey' url
end

So when you will chouce Odyssey in urlopen laucnher it will bring you instance if nothing run, and new tabs if it already runs.

If you can forward...

How about HELP (from MUI), to list all available ARexx commands (and templates) from Odyssey ? IMHO, this command should be available from all MUI applications providing ARexx control.
A VERSION command to allow scripts to check which version of Odyssey is in use ?
A new NOIMAGE switch for the OPEN command - to force Odyssey to not load (remote) images - would be handy as well (think of spyware/spam common in "html" mail).

And if Odyssey will not snoop the document type of a local file, how about allowing to specify it ("text/html" in this case) with a DOCTYPE argument for the OPEN command ?

Edit: I've emailed Fabien about these suggestions.
