@WeiXing3D

Err...

You need to mark DH1: like you did in your last picture and then click on "Select Filesystem" and post this picture...

and you can embed images in your posts like so

Without the spaces

@Raziel

Thank you for your reply. I'm sorry but I didn't get that about how to paste images here, so here is another dropbox link with the requested picture:

Thanks again.

Ok, the last set of pictures show that DH1 has become unformatted for some reason. I know of no way to correct that, other then to re-format it again. You will lose any data on it, but if you buy Final Edition, you would need to redo the hard drive anyway.

Need to take a cat to the vets, bbs.

@WeiXing3D

THose setting look okay except for the maxtransfer which seems to be set for an a1200 or something

From the docs on ide drivers (found in sys:Documentation/IDE)

Make sure to create your SFS partition this way :
- 500 buffers
- blocksize set to 512
- maxtransfer set to 7FFFFFFF
- mask set to FFFFFFFE

Except the buffers can be set higher for such a large partition, so your 600 is okay.

So I would

1. Reduce the size of that swap to 2Gb (by reducing the high cyllinder numbers) creating a space above it.
2. Set up a new partition in the space left by the reduced swap.

Set the numbers up as above:

Make sure to create your SFS partition this way :
- 500 buffers
- blocksize set to 512
- maxtransfer set to 7FFFFFFF
- mask set to FFFFFFFE

3. just delete the big partition, you aint getting it back. Later you can create some general data storage partitions there, also you may need a partition or two for backing up sys: before installingFE.

4. Save to diisk
5. Reboot (soft boot is okay)
6. Format drive and relable as Work:

7. Re add software etc to work as desired.

@broadblues

Thank you for your reply and instructions, which are a little above my experience and knowledge of the OS.

Where can I find a detalied guide on how to format (properly, that is) a HDD partition in AOS4.x?

Sorry for all the inconveniences that my lack of experience causes.

@WeiXing3D

It would be real simple to set your HD up in person, but thats not possable, it would require a lot of time to write instructions for someone who doesn't know how & still not cover everything. Since you can still boot, I would suggest you go into MediaToolBox & play with editing of your existing partitions. Leave DH0 alone & grab the arrows in SWAP & DH1 & learn how to change their size, remove them, add them. This is something you must learn to do if you want to use os4, learn to walk before you run. You can't screw it up anymore then it is now as long as you leave DH0 alone to boot from. You don't need to become an expert, just learn some basics, then simple instructions will be easier to get you going, shouldn't take you long to play around & learn.

Sorry to seem harsh, but this is the cost of using os4, simple tasks should be simple for you to do on your own.

PM sent

@sundown

after 12 years absent from amigaos i forgot how to make a perfect harddrive partition system, in fact I don't remember if i actually learned it in the past or understand all the functions, so maybe i was lucky back then. But when i receved my sam460ex (just the mainboard) i followed the manual step by step.

so if you read the os4 installation manual very carefully, you would fix it with ease.

Just talking to broadblues, we need a os4 wiki doc entry for MTB.

@WeiXing3D

Looks like you can use the URL gadget to post a link. So using IMG should be fine but you need a link to an actual image.

DropBox is no good for that. Infact I tried three browsers and none displayed the image. Only allowed to download and asked me to log in. Not very friendly just to look at a picture!

You could try some tools here check the volume:
http://www.os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=driver/filesystem/sfs.lha

Like:
SFScheck DH1:

Docs are out of date so don't kmow if SFS2 works. You may have triggered an SFS2 bug. Perhaps it was writing or something when you switched off. but you shouldn't have lost the root block because of that.

Have you got most of your stuff backed up to USB? And is your USB backup drive in Amiga format?

You could see if Partitiuon Wizard can do anything with your volume. SFS is supported, SFS2 may not be.

@Hypex
the problem it's not dropbox, but the way the image was put on dropbox, using
the pubblic folder there is no need to log in and ther is the way to have
a direct link to the image

edit: and the images in iff format cannot be viewed by browsers
the next link all from dropbox

here the iff

and here the jpeg
