Where does it say anywhere it can do 4k video? All I see is references to 3x 1080i streams in h.264. This is some way off of 4k requirements. For starters 4k is 4x the resolution of 1080p, plus 4k uses heavier compression as well. Or did I miss something? Four and a half years ago it might've been interesting. Nowadays it sounds pretty obsolete. Video encoding/decoding hardware on GPUs, and even modern x86 CPUs is more powerful. Assuming an OS has drivers to support it at least, which no amiga-oid system does. AROS at least can raw grunt its way to some decent results, but that's about it. |
The fanny thing is that such Monalisa project is ARM-based. You need an ARM system to be added to the poor PowerPC one. |

Hehe, I'm genuinely trying not to sound negative as I appreciate os4.x for what it is and the efforts that have been made, and even like the system, but as someone who has an interest in computer technology other than "ng" ppc platforms I do find it funny/weird that proposed solutions to solve some of the hardware's shortcomings is to basically bolt on another obsolete computer that is a different arch :) |

The f"u"nny thing is i started to think that you a sort of virus or bot that advertises intel architecture and that hijacks the conversation in other directions. I know x86 is a good architecture and i used to nice things in x86 assembler, but we are actually stuck with PowerPC. So, for this reason, i would like to ask you to encourage PPC development, even if the x86 is the best architecture in the world.... just to get rid of this tedious bird that says: your car is old, you have to change your car, knowing that the car owner can't change the car at this moment for various reason. Please Mauro... eddai Mauro....
as you can see there are proposal that mention an arm (mut i can assure you that there are version without arm).
@fishy_fis
There are new version capable of 4k too.

I fail to see where I've talked about the Intel architecture here. In fact, I've only expressed my opinion about such project. Quote:

"Good" is relative word. If x86 is good or not depends on the specific aspect that you're interested. Quote:

We? Who? Quote:

We know very well the situation, so it's pointless to start again a neverending digression.
What I suggest you is to encourage WinUAE or QEMU development to better support OS4, opening some bounties to: - remove the 128MB limit; - add some supported graphic card to enable composition and/or 3D; - add FPU support to QEMU's PowerPC JIT.
That'll be a much better investment. Quote:

Cesare, not Mauro. Mauro is part of my surname. Quote:

But the point is that you need something different from the "so powerful" PowerPC architecture. Think about it. |

Actually, I think it's a valid point. You promote Intel most of the time (allthough not in this particular example) and as such it's useful for the readers to know that you're employed by them.
This is common internet courtesy.
Oh, and the latin pedantry was mocked already in the 16th century by respected authors like Belo, Bruno, Bergerac and others. I personally could do without it.
Edit: Missing a comma. I doubt there was an author named Bruno Bergerac Last edited by olegil on 28-Aug-2015 at 08:45 AM.

Quite trivial, but depends on Hyperion...

Without doubt. However, I would still rather buy dedicated hardware - for the right price. |

Btw, fanny as in female genitalia or as in buttocks? You have to reply to every single line of words? It's ok, but next time i will see you at Pianeta Amiga i promise that i will convert you to the risc side, like x86 do with the microcode.
I hope i haven't say anything wrong to avoid any debate :P _________________ retired |

ooooh conspiracy theory.
No, it's simply common courtesy to mention your employment status when promoting your employer.
It doesn't mean his arguments are invalid by definition, but it certainly shines a bit of light on his rather indistrious production of comments in any thread that seeks to discuss other brands than Intel. _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). I do not really understand what discussion is about... hardware development is big business needing lots of money, there are some elephants like intel, then there are some dwarfs like Freescale.
Trevor would not even be a ant here. I do not really understand what people really expect. There is still talk what has to be improved at OS level or which new hardware is necessary to make it competitive again but that race is lost more than 20 years ago. People should start to accept that. |

People have their dreams and ideas. Some want OS4 on PowerPC, some like AROS in WinUAE - neither is pure logical choice. |

Funny thing, past few days I was researching the MSX computer hardware and it also used texas instruments for graphics - I really liked the graphics on MSX !
Then looking up on Commodore 64 chips i found myself looking into DSP VDU chips and stumble across Texas Instruments DaVinci chip.
Now Davinci would be good to hit hardware / fun, but I also agree DM37x ARM Cortex-A8, ARM is a new life line for Amiga - cheap processors with GPU.
The experts in ARM/mali are mobile phone/tablet developers around the Android developer forums would be a good place to hire such developers or freelance.com with ARM hardware experience.
Before anyone points out - we can hire by the hour, a good developer would charge around $25+ per hour with 5+ years experience.
Have it run on Android first, then port to say AROS ARM.
One could skip OCS/AGA chipsed and go direct to 24 bit graphics hardware banging :) Software emulator could take over until a hardware solution is found.
As long as we can get Aros on cheap hardware where we can access Graphics/GPU in assembler and a nice audio chip we can alot of fun !
Golden rules to follow :
open hardware + software - for future generation Try keep modular hardware keep within sizes that fit motherboard in PC Laptops
Android XMB - would double as a games console
Max 300 USD device to customer.
Android boards that a developer may make use of :
