yes you are right expecially when the kernel was not designed for the host cpu and mainboard and was full of missing instructions and signals in beginning Last edited by tlosm on 30-Mar-2016 at 05:05 PM. P5020 has been supported in mainstream kernels since 3.3 (March 2012). Dunno if there is some weirdness in motherboard that it needs special patches for kernel.
Unless in this case beta means that someone had to do dark voodoo of config and compiling kernel which hardly counts as beta when you use stable components. |

Actually there are no special patches for the Linux kernel for X5000 from kernel 4.4.4 . Thanks to the initiative of Alex Perez .

ok so let's do like the other threads over at amigans and here and stick with the same version of Blender on OS4.1FE and agree on a standard scene to render. |
Since this is supposed to be about Linux performance there really isn't reason to use anything older than 2.7x.
And for scene BMW27.blend is pretty much standard for benchmarking 2.7x. |
ah ok, then I'll start a new thread for OS4.1FE machines running our version of blender with the scene you noted._________________ ____________________________ c64-2sids, A1000, A1200T-060@50(finally working!),A4000-CSMKIII ! | @Tuxedo linux kernel was support it yes 5020 how? was running and running dont mean good thanks to cyrus and alex job now better. need to be better fixed yes alex is continue working on it yes. cyrus is a new hardware yes
what it means if cpu is linux compatible? dont mean it is full supported by linux os/distro example probably Rose know why Debian is performances slower compared Ubuntus with the same kernel on the same machine (about 40%)
my last reply to rose was a little kidding ... _________________ I love Amiga and new hope by AmigaNG A 500 + ; CDTV; CD32; PowerMac G5 Quad 8GB,SSD,SSHD,7800gtx,Radeon R5 230 2GB; MacBook Pro Retina I7 2.3ghz; #nomorea-eoninmyhome |

I cant compare because i dont have an X1000. on Linux right now on my SSD840 the speed is only 180 mb/s on an Ex4 this on the internal sata. better driver need there too... time by time note before was much less. On G5 quad with SSD intel 320 i have 140 mb/s Last edited by tlosm on 31-Mar-2016 at 07:55 AM. Last edited by tlosm on 31-Mar-2016 at 07:54 AM.

So nothing to do with kernel being beta. Debian is more about stability than performance so it has some ancient packages on it. Is that 40% all across the board or just some programs?

That's actually not too bad result considering hardware. Any driver upgrade wont magically make your internal Sata SATA-3.

Sata is definetly SATA-2 unless you are claiming that Cyrus has custom special version of P5020.

Don't know what Wintel (Windows+Intel) has to do with this.

Distros even for x86/x86_64 are compiled with quite generic compiler options. Gentoo tried to hit this niche "To get most out of hardware" but it kinda fizzled when people noticed that you would have to be really lucky to get even 5% performance gains from that outside of few special cases in spesific programs.

So X5000 needs it's special snowflake distribution. Which makes it pretty much unbuyable for people outside OS4 crowds. |

you write exactly like some other one ... that vanish from here ...
no works well with mate , work with debian but like i write before need optimization in building do you thing this is unusable? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdOLLVk6I1A
Ps: Linux Debian PPC FULL 64 bit is coming optimized for e5500 too Lib64 is right now on my machine installed (who use linux ppc will understand my words ..) Last edited by tlosm on 31-Mar-2016 at 11:13 PM. Last edited by tlosm on 31-Mar-2016 at 11:10 PM.
