@TRIPOS

The reason Jupp3 had problems understanding that message is because it was never said,... never implied, never alluded to, etc., etc.

Just a construct of a lack of applying any thought to what was actually said. And elaborated. Ad nauseam.

You know how things go here. People like to grab the wrong stick and run with it just to argue semantics. Even when they know they're running with the wrong stick.

p.s. Your response to tlosm cracked me up. One of the more entertaining posts Ive seen here for a while.

Honestly IMHO his defence on his blog site seems quite normal, with syntetic topics and organic discussion, with nor babbling ranting neither accusations to anyone. In the least it has a sense. Why people here accused him of molesting insane fanboysm?

@tlosm

HD3000 vs gtx7800 would have been more apt.

HD3000 barely qualifies a gpu.

My i5 AROS box gets around 560 fps in Dark Places. A much more advanced Quake engine. And that's on AROS. Completely single core. No offloading OS, etc. to other cores, less efficient drivers, etc.

Are you trying to pull the wool over other peoples eyes, or do you actually believe your own rubbish?

Funny thing is just a week or so ago you seemed well aware of the fact that comparisons need to be like for like when it suited your agenda. Have you suddenly forgotten that? (rhetorical)

I won´t comment x86 vs PPC etc., as AmigaOS4 is PPC-only, you have no choice anyway - BUT:

my quad g5 10 years machine can today play a race with an i5 2012 i will make tests
with i3 laptops 2015 just im courious about.

Sorry, but this argument is really beyond reality (to stay polite). There is no way that your QuadG5 (or X5000) is faster than any i5. I even doupt that the G5 can compete with faster Core2Duo-machines.

But as I bought a i5-PC for AROS recently (its an used HP 8200 Elite with i5 2400 from around 2012/13), i am happy to provide a Blender-benchmark.

and yes you true darkplace is more efficient but sorry if i noticed you darkplace on osx isnt much slower than your aros i5 on one core of my g5 quad on old gpu from 2005

@tlosm

you take one example

that is not proofing anything in my view

if your thesis is right that hardware from 2005 beats or at least competes with new hardware from 2012 and later hardware devs would have made a bad job in recent years

As I said before, I will do a blender-benchmark and we will see If your argument is valid.

Sure a different GPU can be faster in an older system, but you were talking of beating an i5 in genral, and that´s nonsens. A blender-benchmark is a good test for raw CPU-speed...

Even that´s not true. Here are some Geekbench-results of Apple computers:

https://www.primatelabs.com/blog/2008/02/mac-performance-february-2008/

Quad G5 (Power Mac G5 (Late 2005)
Dual Dual-Core PowerPC G5 @ 2.5 GHz) scores with 3197

https://www.primatelabs.com/blog/2012/11/imac-215-late-2012-benchmarks/

Even the MacMini from (late) 2012 scores with 6615!
iMac with i3 (Dualcore) from 2011 scores with 6503!

I only have found unofficial numbers but the best unofficial reference I found is 3500 to Linux and 1500 to MorphOS (in 2006, including Pegasos 1 and 2).

Could you link such reference, please?

Yet, cca 3000 boards for one platforms would be much better outcome than 1500+1500 for two.
